Bathsheba
I place her gently
on the
counter

Defiantly
bait
complacent
eyes

But ...

They have
often
seen my sort

Likes of me they do despise

“Take a seat”
she spits at me
Such venom makes me smirk
I size up my surroundings

Maybe now I’ll go berserk?

You see ..
I
dally with

Dark Demons

Devil

Deep Blue Sea

A lifetime lived in purgatory

Why does no one hear my plea?

Help me
Help me
Help me

I’m drowning in the mire
Throw me out a lifeline
Before my will expires

Cherubic eyes start taunting me
Pierce my hardened shell
I beg you
to
extract me
From this hell in which I dwell

I often dream this dream
Surreal and quite sublime

Where the essence of my character
Transports to another time

Bonny hats
Crinoline

In my pocket sits a key

I stroll
out
into the garden

Wait by the old oak tree

Watch the boy approaching
From the distance on his mare

Close my eyes
Count to ten

Recite the lord’s great prayer

Soon he is upon me
I hand him now the key

And as I stare into his eyes
I see that the boy is
me

I don’t know what it means
But it tends to soothe the pain

Until the cycle

Fires up

Vitriolic rain

Pollutes my brain

Help me
Help me
Help me

I’m drowning in the mire
Throw me out a lifeline
Before my will expires

I start to scream
I start to shout
I know with them
I have no clout

We all go through the motions
We all have a part to play
I give a star performance
They know I’ll rue this day

Soon I’m bound and gagged
Contained within a cell

And if you listen very carefully
You’ll hear the sound of the

YOU
Ignore the weeping wounded
As they wallow in the mire

YOU
Fear contamination
Of your heart's desire

Kudos
Respect
Acceptance

YOUR
Palatable poison of the day

Knock
Knock
Knock

"Have you seen my courage?"
"Is it coming out to play?"

"Not today *Poet

For your words are all but dead
Maybe ...
Next time
Stick to your principles
Instead of rolling over .... playing dead!"

"You have a voice
Use it
Stand tall
Walk tall
Walk proud
Believe what
YOU
Believe in

Not the needs of this faux crowd!

"I thought you were a Warrior
A God amongst mere men
But ...
When the push
Came to
The shove

YOU

YOU

Divorced yourself from Zen

"So here is my dilemma
The knot tight inside my soul
Was this just a one off?
Or will
YOU
Always roll

Always roll on with the 'in crowd'
Irrespective of the
THOUGHT
Or will

YOU

Stand by .... what you believe in?
Stand by .... what you've been taught?"

For the record
I will state
My name is

Bathsheba was just a bit of fun
It held me in good stead
But now ...
I feel the time is right
To lie her down to bed"

"And as I lay her down to sleep
Silently close the door
I know she was a lot of things

But never a poet *****!

She always held her principles
In highest of esteem
She was an individual
But still part of the team
Can you my friend
Say the same
With your hand held on your heart
Or will

YOU

Stick your head in the sand
then try to pass it of

You make me ***** with your pathetic and puerile *******

Visited by faceless voices
my only hope
of escape

BAM
She walks among these streets
So quiet and obsolete
As you look in her eyes and wonder
How the crashing waves pulled her under
-neath this skin she wears too tight

Never pausing to take in a breath
Because time is all she has left
Those eyes travel deep as a hidden valley
carry more secrets than a pope in an alley
                -watching, trusting, never judging

Green, and blue, but mostly grey
Are the eyes that tell you, he will pay
Burdened with the past she never wanted
And stapled open with looks that haunted
-while she saw nightmares in her wake

They smile with a force that holds
So stiff, she’s walked on like roads
But look a little close into her gaze
Wander past the fences that run for days
                -somewhere, you can find her

In a land where memories can fade
Run away with no “should I have stayed?”
Those lips so full can finally speak
Of the tragedy that floods her eyes for weeks
                -no more skies of grey

Crystal blue with no musk to darken
The story told will only lighten
No more glass to crawl and scratch the skin
Only a love that’s unleashed within
                -beauty, you are being saved

Darling, where has the daylight gone
I see you stumbling down those streets
and see the corners where you meet
Tell me, what is really wrong

Twinkle, twinkle like a star
as you slowly fade away in the sky
Inhale deep to get you high
Tell me, where you really are

Falling, till the meteor Crashes
Down on those knees tonight
what is wrong and what is Right
Tell me, where’d you get those gashes

Blacken, as midnight turns about
Left by yourself with no one to Help
No one to even hear you yelp
Screaming, Screaming, let me out

Mama always told me
Happy people have friends
So I smile smile smile
Laugh laugh, giggle
Until my stomach shakes
Forcing me to purge more laughter
                    Even Though my heart quakes

She said
People like happy people
So I brush up those pearly whites
Ruby up those pretty lips
And give people all my attention
Forcing myself to smile, smile
              Tears hanging in suspension

Mama always said smile
It’s the key to a healthy life
So I smile smile smile
Laugh laugh, choke
On all of my lifetime’s lies
Forcing those baby blues shut tight
                Nobody can read these eyes

She said
That we weren’t broken
So I never questioned her
Love glued together with expired gum
Was a family unscripted
Forcing a hug way too tight
              Cause daddy was enlisted

Mama always told me
It’s okay to cry
So I told her I had no reason
Smiled, and walked away
While then I laid inside my bed
Forcing myself to stay silent
For to wake in the morning, I’d dread

She said
Someday, things will get better
So I wait and wait anxiously
And laugh, and laugh, and choke
On all of my lifetime’s lies
Forcing these baby blues shut tight
           Nobody can read these eyes
