Keep me awake,
Keep me alive,
Stifle it all
back down inside
Old Friend.

Make the nights never end
as the moon shines brighter than the sun.
You make my vibration strong again.
You make me happy,
yet I know if you hang around,
You'll eat out my insides.

But I was so glad to see you.
Saw an old friend today. She looked just as sharp as I remember her. Her crystal eyes pierced me again.

I uncovered every stone and retraced every step trying to find where we went wrong.
But in the end, I just got lost.

It's like we are climbing a wall
that we won't get to the top off,
but we keep climbing it
because we strive to make it to the top, and the thrill of the climb
makes it that much more exciting

nobody is ever really down for you like you'd think
When the suns light escapes your grasp and you're left to wrestle with your darkness,
The night can smile warmly, or with bared teeth.
Following the waving trees,
the same direction as the breeze,
as if a thermal element
was wafted with my gait,

as blown along beside the river,
downstream with it's flow,
I felt a kind of impetus,
impulsive like a joy,
that grabs the psyche,
swings the spirit in high gear,

a thrill of moving onward
through the day and year,
as if time were anonymous
and I a mere convolvulous,
that happened to be flowering today.

Ann Waddicor August 2013.
One from my collection of poems of joy.
