Kosovo

Let it fall and rise
Like Kosovo
With respect and reverence
Like Rome and the Byzantines
Or Constantinople

Give them liberty
Impunity
Immunity from the tyranny
Of former countries
Why must history
Stubbornly refuse death

Unrest
In the Homeland

I’m happy nothings changed
When you treat your people
Like rats
Treating them like swine
I wish you had more power

I realize parliament
Is ******
A liberal agenda
Dressed up as conservative ethics
Brexit
The message they sent

We are strong
We are right
We won’t live in fright
I speak out
Call me a ****
Call me a racist
I’m a  placist
Cause we’ve all got one in this world

Sew my mouth
Bound and gagged
I’m laughing
Smoking a *** through my nostrils

You can’t ban freedom of speech
And call us free
Dispose of of the other wing
Labeled as FASCISTS
Wrongfully

Look at what you’re doing
burn the Queen
While you’re at it

Burn yourselves
Advance the process
I’ll call it progress

**** Parliament

Donkeys cry
Elephants cry
This game of losers
Never ends
The dream
We call American
Became superficial
Growth comes at a cost
We must work
And earn accordingly
Can’t afford a token
Or pass
To immigrants or natives
Who believe it as their birthright
To call what elders
Worked so hard to build as our own
But not do anything to preserve it

Empty pulpits
It’s 5:30 on Saturday
People are praying at the pub
Giving sermons and political manifestos

Dingy hotel rooms
Mold pieces of a character
The scent of lavender and alcohol
The party never ends

I’m watching through
The watch towers scope
I’m not a parent
But it’s apparent
Tonight, I’m a helicopter

I loved you
But love is a dissipating wave
Crashing on the
Tide of dreams
Behind blue eyes
I had goals
And aspirations
And it’s no ones fault
We lost connection
Along the way

Hell has a place in your heart
That you run to
For security
But my assurance
That it’ll be alright
Wasn’t enough insurance for you

Don’t you feel gratified
In the safety of your thoughts
Utopia exists
As a mode of escapism
What was is now what is
And what will always be us

Divided we stand
Independently falling
In unison
A nation destroyed
By its own people

Give them drugs
To ease the pain
Give them love
To numb the pain
Revolution
To fulfill the fallacy of nirvana
And a coupon
For better ideas
I’m just now realizing that this reads like a love letter to the 60’s in a way— this more of a critique of my generation

Pick a card any card
Except for the queen
She stole my heart
And now I’m a zombie

I’m looking for Alice
In the woods
But all I see
Is a red
Where have all the men gone
And why is there
A been stocks worth of wedding rings
In front of me?

Goliath still exists they
Made him out of wood
Must be painfully awkward
When he wakes up in the morning

Little boy Bleu
****** a hag in a shoe
He yolked as he died
Humpty Dumpty is alive
but can’t pick himself up
He’s got no game

He lives with Aiken Drum
And a street dog
Whose owner died
When she saw him smoking a pipe
Their landlords a crooked man
Who keeps raising rent
They gut him
And put him in a stew with the theee little pigs
Humpty falls in
“ Aw ****” says Aiken
“Well at least this’ll be a valences breakfast
I couldn’t help but wonder what some nursery rhymes would be if they were written for a more mature audience...
