Hot Desking
Antony Glaser Sep 2021
Down Sidcup, they are planning mind games
without a safety net for me
We are hot desking
during  a railroad strike
and have a muddling southeastern rail service to boot!
We are going the long way to work
London Bridge is being redeveloped
The tension is brewing like a bout of cholera
We are being punished for events
outside our control.
Its the survival of the fittest
the most local win
But some of us are tadpoles
out of our depth

An ill got voyage
Antony Glaser Sep 2021
What kind words can we use?
Kindly years  Kindly Sir, Kindly dream?
Where there is no kindness
there is only referment

The ordinary never forgetting days
slips through my palms
like salted brine

After the rain
a pale anemone shies
over the convenient ashes of remorse
yet dreams are for losers
and waylaid journeymen

perfectly formed
Antony Glaser Sep 2021
reeling ruffled
she puts her hands in her head
and recounts
the streets once offered fascination
but she prefers off road
the dark seclusion of the glades
has given her a new desire

She realises what the night is for
love has set the wheels of motion
the change perfectly formed
There was much ovation

She wants
Antony Glaser Sep 2021
The Prima donna was abrupt
she said she didn't want to be
part of any wherewithal
but needed a firm base on the dance floor
She's lost the noble art of conversation,
a glance in the armory of mercurialness

Restless in her heart of hearts
The streets are designed for a thrill
She needed a hero
strictly some kind of
game of chance
in a heartbeat

Shadows of Spring
Your silhouette plies with the coming morning
I'd like to sing from memory
Take it easy, watch how you go
Wake up to the sunny retinue
A few dewdrops in the rain
Turn and hit the Road, West
Come and sing songs with me
I like the illusion in your face

My E Bay purchase SL D303 sprang to life
( for a few joyous months)
Springs replaced once
and the second time, it died like a swan,
no spare parts!
Soon it burnt into the pocket
Suburban luggage of a layered kind
alongside my vinyl collection
cant always trust dependability

Shadows present
Antony Glaser Sep 2021
When she was rested
she said life doesn't have to be a tragedy
I can show you what the night is for
Love doesn't have to be a pony ride
Unwade yourself
surrender to the swim
Your God is when shadows are present
across the dancing floor
in a state of infatuation
I blissfully agreed

Those Rebuilding
Antony Glaser Sep 2021
Sunday morning comes hoovering
Who needs their soul saved
Some would rather **** their socks
Father cried last night
Salt tears reeling from non redemption
Vicar was not too pleased
He still blessed his congregation

Sunday morning
What use are you
laying on your fat *****
whose flock needs repairing
Hard wired Conscience!

October morning
Antony Glaser Sep 2021
October morning are you up to the task?
Who needs their trousers repaired?
Is the tailor up to  scratch?

Mothers and their daughters incessantly arguing
They've got lifelines on their aprons!
Old Man Lenin spoke of the epoch of change!
still, he blessed the rain.
Robin on the pitched fork
Rebekkah's still shimmering
Is the soil heating before the fall?
October Morning what use are you?
when you come so sheepishly

Dusky City Lights
Antony Glaser Sep 2021
Dusky city lights
The homeless ply their cardboard
All is not firmament in this town
The shells of half erected buildings
Barricaded shop fronts
pending yesterday’s dreams
Take me from wild places
There is no hero to gaze at
The Magpies screech at the Robins eggs
and the town is Menacing again
lamenting the countenance

Matchless in Savannah
without an ignition spark
like a giant matzo ball impending your exit
I never quite liked the act
First, you like me
then on the first flimsy pretext
you upset yourself
me not reading in fiction or
believing in little angel helpers,
hardly aided moi chances
It is shrill in Outer space

The boy has caught me early spring
by the fireside we sojourn
Ain't got no hired limousine
no imagination for the road
The boy caught me singing
harmoniously undercover
Handsome  brown eyes
will reappraise me yet
Like a fiery fire
I'm going down big easily.
Got love to share
and an abundance of hope
Come and see me
like a bird in my tree

Autumn with the Matador
Antony Glaser Sep 2021
Another Autumn reigns,
cold metal blue,
Evergreen Matador steps out again
looking for his Bravo Toro.
Stroppy Labrador,
surrounding you with love.
Spirits having flown,
with the Northern star.
Portly headmasters blunt with scorn.
Ravenous Ravens a plenty,
fill the void

With your mystical polaroids

Caught in November
Antony Glaser Sep 2021
Caught in November
Troubadors sing their hearts out
Surround me evermore
Spirits caught in castle ruins
Frangipani wait to hark
Poppy dogs with sheepish eyes
lost in the dark
Happy as a jester in Lincolnshire fayres
Dragons Tooth flowering late
Ordinariness dressed in leitmotifs

Preloved Syllable
Antony Glaser Aug 2021
What a friend we have in time
all the gifts to be foretold
I have seen the Northern star
from an alleyway
and chased the phrases lined from your lips
and ushered each syllable
We can make a reason for laughter
but if you go, alias
like a dried leaf
floating neigh  on the riverbed
I have only one wish
like a falling teardrop
to wake at nine
coffee in bed with you

Writing on the wall
Antony Glaser Aug 2021
They've taken away my mojo
Besmirched my living rhythm
The colors have run dry
one and one make three
Is there a catchment area?
Is there anybody to help me?

Autumn Days
stirring like moldy leaves
I have become a discounted man
Who will tend my overgrown garden?
I was brought to my knees
as I ran out of time
Why must everything fade away?

Watercolour Days
Antony Glaser Aug 2021
Nobody cares but me
Soaring on the air
were trees higher than the breeze
Did it spiral away?
Could you hear it?
Somewhere on the line
I lost all track of time!

You're all alone
childlike tendencies
You're at the bottom of the barrow
you need to help yourself
but if you can't take the gamble

Backbeat the weather is hot
Sometimes I feel like the desert
it's enough to drive you to the sand

Spring and Elvis

Suitcase with grief
Credible April rains
Spring so near
yet so far away.
With the greenfly and spider over my coat
Looking for lasting relations
Could have been a hero
But I've lost my place
Right or wrong.
If I had only known Elvis Presley

The sublime was playing sax
as super creep waddled into town

for a Mercedes experience -

CROYDON part 9
Antony Glaser Jul 2021
Croydon
You ask me
how I should feel there are 14 vacant
closed shops in Croydon?.

A town that presides
over its last boom and bust
isn't worthy.
Still  The Councils "Brick by Brick"
the culprit
lays bankrupt
No management buyout yet!
as the rest of central Croydon
mushrooms not in office blocks,
but living quarters,
for the overpriced town center,
the middle class
who won't help footfall,
as they still buy online,
further depressing the same again
And the town is a big gush
with the wind and dust battering it.

MATCH DATELINE ADVICE
Antony Glaser Jul 2021
Hayley the coach said it's alright being an introvert,
believe me, I'm one myself!
her smile was like warm confetti!
generally, you need a tab leader!
to draw them in
for your important first impression profile intro,
self-aggrandizement is the highest order!
"Fun-loving person seeks partner in crime"
although avoid cliches.
Instead of "I like walks",
"I love London Midnight ambles"
We've spent an eon down casting ourselves
but Hayley is spreading the new religion,
be an everyday legend.

You still need your head wrapped
around initial ill apt responses
HI Yi!
and how have you coped with COVID?
You need a rear guard retort to answer
Funster seeks a new vista!
offer her scrambled eggs!.

Never had a first date request!
much prefer the slower approach
66.5% surveyed no follow up required
Ask about social distancing
and if a first date hug is okay
were still in the 2020s
consent must be freely given
Love below the sky, still
safety sought.

Antony Glaser Dec 2020
They've wrecked the  illusion
that's towns are bastillions
made to last
instead they are monopoly money spinners
where building booms become bust
and rents dry up

They've wrangled the economy
now they go for the soul
