Pouring out of the face of the air
the unquestionable certainty of sight

Oscillations of pure terror at every street corner
oblivion's door - opening and shut

&  underlying all-rightness

The new cycle of the new year - one year off
threatening to impose unknown change

& though some who claim to know themselves
may reject nature & the dynamo of the galactic wheel

all will break before the turning planets

& cast no doubt upon the strength of silent gods
all electricity dead - a silent, dark world

Recalling our bare-bone truths
when we were once all born into darkness
& roasting calf thighs as tribute
to the stars who told our stories
