I'm fixing to do something
That I shouldn't oughta
But let me say mister
These are desperate times

Can anyone blame me
For feeding my family
When you fight for survival
Is it considered a crime

When you hold up a store
That sells the devils firewater
Would that be a sin
In the good Lords eyes

Cause that's what I'm bout to do
You can read it in the papers
I just hope it don't say there
A desperate man died

And that he was too young
When the clerk with the shotgun
Without a question
Ended his life

With words from his family
How the kids miss their daddy
Story continued and ending
On page 25...

Ocean home

She steps in the ocean
and lets out a sigh
Knows this is the meaning
to the meaning of life

As the surf and the sand
take hold of her hand
Begs her to stay
as long as she can

Salt in the air
is her spice to life
The breeze in her hair
is the answer to why

The ocean alone
is where she calls home
The only true comfort
that she's ever known

Everyday I have lunch
With a pink hippopotamus
The menus always the same
Tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches
Oh, and Diet Cherry Coke
Cause he likes the way it tickles his throat

His friends sometimes stop by
To join the both of us
Hippopotami
If you're talking more than one of us
Or Hippo for short
If you're not into funny sounding words

Sometimes after lunch
Me and my friend the pink Hippopotamus
Like to take a drive
To the beach in his Minibus
He loves to catch the rays
Plus hang ten on a few waves

If you ever care for lunch
Feel free to join me and my Hippopotamus
But only if you like
Tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches
Because it's all that he will eat
Which is fine by me
Makes for easy cooking and cleaning

The Slap

We all come out screaming
And fighting back the tears
Is this the hidden message
That will haunt our lives for years

Being slapped around by "The Man"
Right outside the womb
Picture this, the government
Doing the same to you

Like the bully in the playground
At such a tender age
Life will keep on slapping you
Until the day you cave

Pressures of the teenage years
Pounds you like a fist
Preparing for adulthood
So you best get used to it

Until the day that you bow out
You'll be slapped around
Comes the day they close the lid
And slap you in the ground
