My eyes are droopy
My tongue is swollen
My throat is burning
My heart hurts

Hello Poetry,
Why are you not stopping prose
running rampant here?

Asphyxiophilia
If sidewalks could talk,
They'd tell stories
Of hurried footsteps
As I chased you down the street
And you carried me back inside again.
If hinges could talk,
They'd tell tales
Of every evening
That ended in slamming doors
And gut-wrenching sobs.
If bed springs could talk,
They'd whisper the secrets
Of the nights we laid too close
And I allowed you to stay
Until I fell asleep.
If mailboxes could talk,
They would repeat
Every handwritten letter they held
That you once poured
Your feelings into
But don't anymore.
And if windows could talk,
They'd tell you
About every night
I gazed outside
Hoping you'd come back to me
But you never did.

She was 17
He was 19
She kept to herself, head always buried in a book
He broke hearts and caused trouble
They met at a train station
She was sitting on the bench, clenching a book
He was leaning up against the brick wall
eyes on his watch
waiting for the train
so he could meet his dealer
The roar of the train echoed in their ears
She got up
Her brown hair blowing back in the wind
He saw her from the corner of his eye
She began to walk towards the train
book still in hand
sun shining through the white lace of her flowing skirt
His eyes stared her up and down now

She begins to run
her light black sandals picking up pace
not even realizing it,
He begins to run too
heart beat rising in his throat
It was as if an angel had slowed down the train
or time itself
She feels the warmth of his arms around her
the trains engine screams at her
He pulls her back, holding her close
they collapse on the platform
watching the train fly past on the tracks
tears fall from her eyes
sparkling like tiny diamonds
He calms her down, brushing the hair out of her face
softly saying in her ear
"shh. you're okay. you're okay."
People talked frantically
dozens of eyes on them
The book she was reading only a feet away
She stops crying for a second
and looks into his blue eyes
He looks back into her light brown eyes
"Why did you save me? Why didn't you just let me go?"
Red and blue lights flash in the background
He feels a warm sensation in his heart
"You wouldn't have known who you would have fallen in love with
and I wouldn't have gotten the chance to buy you coffee"

That, my darlings
is how my Grandmother and Grandfather met
and still together till this day.

i am broken glass shards
spread out across the
tiles on your
kitchen floor do not
step on me

i am empty plastic water bottles
crinkled up
with lost white twisting tops
do not step on me i am
cars speeding down your little neighborhood's one lane road i am
accidents on highways
slow down as you pass me

i am bug bites and zip ties
swollen joints and peach fuzz bruises - orange and green and purple, beautiful
but
soft and
i am cracks as deep as the lines on your face and on your soul
i am picky eaters and temper tantrums
don't stare
we are attracted to blue flames and the sounds of
keyboards clicking
in the dark
Would it be weird if I said I would be yours forever.
All you need to do is ask.
I would forget all my dreams and hopes,
Change them for yours.

Would it be wrong if I said I would give my life for you.
I would gladly take a knife to the heart,
It if ment saving yours.

Would it be sad if I told you I long for you,
I vision you here with me
But then reality takes over and you dissapear.

Would it be the end of me,
The end of who I am if I gave my all to you,
Would I vanish if I lived to be with you
Melting into your life.

Would it be true
If I said all I do is for you.

Jacques Prévert
He poured the coffee
Into the cup
He put the milk
Into the cup of coffee
He put the sugar
Into the coffee with milk
With a small spoon
He churned
He drank the coffee
And he put down the cup
Without any word to me
He emptied the coffee with milk
And he put down the cup
Without any word to me
He lighted
One cigarette
He made circles
With the smoke
He shook off the ash
Into the ashtray
Without any word to me
Without any look at me
He got up
He put on
A hat on his head
He put on
A raincoat
Because it was raining
And he left
Into the rain
Without any word to me
Without any look at me
And I buried
My face in my hands
And I cried

Hello Poetry
I know I’ve ignored you
Put the voices aside
Trying to silence them
Throttle them
Choke them
Well, I’m listening now
Will you take me back?
