"vanya" poems
~I remember...
~For my two sisters
Future lovers
Are not knocking on my doors,
No line ups
Around the corner
Of my house;
The ladder to my window
Lies injured
On yellow
Lawn
Not nurtured,
Down bellow.
On the Queen Anne arm chair
Ashes of my
Fabulous years,
Wireless affairs,
No strings
Unattached
To my violin.
Sketches in the ****
Of lovers past
Are shivering,
Longing for my tapestries,
Trying, in vain, to hide
Under sad sepia.
Portraits, I promised
To paint
To Dorian Gray.
May still age
Given just a little
More time.
On the stage
I, Manon Lescaut, die,
Only sixteen -
Poor Knight De Grieux
Just another year,
please,
That I have not for sale
Anymore.
Pastels and aquarelles
Turned monochrome;
Chronos
Doesn't stop here
For a single moment -
Walks all over.
In the middle of my chaos
23/7
(What's an hour glass
Or more?),
Sleeps
Master Behemoth.
His fur coat
Once luxurious black
Has specks of grey,
One white whisker;
So are three of my hair.
Wise
Sybilla?
I don't think so.
It's not what
It used to be, my Master
Let's go out
To the open
Let's breathe,
Let's see new cats.
On the chopping block,
Let's lose our heads
Let's get lost.
Let's elope together
The weather
Should be
Just rainy-fine
For the Requiem,
For the funeral.
Tree Sisters gone
To the Cherry Orchard,
Uncle Vanya, again,
Left alone on the estate.
Seagull, before rain
Flies over my head
For the last time.
Author Notes
Two of my sisters are gone already.

Uncle Vanya and Lady Godiva
Uncle Vanya came strolling down the road
Wishing he had made something of his life
His young friend Anne loquaciously agreed
And with remarkable vehemence urged him
to endeavour to remediate his perceived inadequacies in the
many precedent matters that burdened him…
Don Quixote suggested that worries were giants
Cassandra said, “There is only one page left”
Nick Adams whispered, “Shh! You’ll scare the fish!”
Ambrose Silk asked the way to the world’s end
And young Lady Godiva, sans chemise
Outsourced her image on souvenir tees

Ivan & Igor led the 14-yo Sonya
out to the barn on Uncle Vanya's old abandoned farm;
there they made the video
u see before u now---
Ivan paying-off the local gay cop
for distribution
& it sold underground
as years went by & all became famous---
Ivan & Igor making a more arty follow-up
w/ the same actress now years older---
to say the least,
Sonya in the attic rewriting the script
for a Hollywood reboot.
Tanya so jealous she camps outside the old house,
(a tepid actress,
whose mother is from M____,
allows her daughter to instruct
younger ballerinas
in the arts of darkness,
outside in the field influenza
turns her green---the Polish army marching
through her brain & out her ears.
her mother my mitochondrial miracle,
my mother her Barbie's Bible---
The second video bursting the stars wide,
collapsing deep space into a pinpoint idea;
the few who sit in truth
upon her fighting right breast
& peaceful left---
god, I left my mother in Crimea ******** in an outhouse---
she's been wanting to get out all day
