N’díídá!
Wake up, wake up…my son.
Hogan seeing east, great sun greets.
Brave piercing cold, Brave bleeding heat.
Set rezilient mind, see battles won.
Brave flinted rocks, brave metaled beats.
See painful pasts, set your feet lil’ one.

Náás diiná
Walk forward, walk forward…lil’ man.
Look through clouds, look over mountains.
Brave the liquor, Brave the drugs.
Bend blinded minds, see lies to “amen’s”.
Brave minds blinded, brave coward tugs.
Hear the peoples past, set your legs lil’ one

Holzishdę́ díníí’
Look to pasts, look to pasts…fighter young.
Smile sacred stories, smile given songs.
Brave severed cuts, Brave suicidal triggers.
Laugh at tears run, let fierce anger rung.
Brave the useless, brave the claimers.
Sing the creation past, set your fists lil’ one.

T'áá Yedigo Yániłtxi’
Speak up, stand up…my grown spear.
Surprise the eagle, overpower the bear.
Brave the gods, Brave the fearful.
Embrace the night, prepare the gear.
Brave the genocide, Brave the brainwashed.
Break the path, keep slaying their fear.

Keep digging…keep digging pillars of braves.

Could it be that locked in memory
Ancient thoughts are held in store,
Passed on by Neanderthal man
Who's origins we may recall.....

Ape like in physique and frame,
Prominent prognathus jaw,
Burning eyes intense and sharp,
Intelligence to seek for more.

Telepathic thought transference
Little need for guttural grunt,
Massive strength in hand and thigh
Stinking pelt to back and front.

Rushing through the reed and long grass
Casting lance with lunging throw,
Mastodon with roaring bellow
Thrashing trunk with thunderous blow.

Darkness in the smoky cavern
Clustered at the flinted flame,
Family and others warming
Squat encircled, chewing game.

Listening in the chill of moonlight
Listening to the wolf pack howl,
Out across the snow clad forest
Out beyond the hooting owl.

Chewing pelts to soften leather
Massive teeth in massive jaw,
Wary eyes observe the weather
Southern winds may bring the thaw.

Luscious she with scent ascending,
Luscious she with hairy maw,
Bent to me in sweet surrender
Downy hip and coaxing paw.

Roar in rage and beat the earth
Blazing eyes and heaving chest,
Invasion from the **** Sapiens
Seeking females for their nest.

Skies descend with fire and brimstone
Rock cascades and burns the earth,
Mountain God has vent his fury
Scamper hard to cave’s safe berth.

Cold, so cold this bleak snow weather
No retreat from Winter’s ire
Brother, sisters, sons are huddled
Frozen dead in blue ice byre.

Few, so few now to migration
Trek to southern food and heat,
Starving, wet and hypothermic
Staggeringly trudge the weak.

Few, so few to intermingle
With the **** Sapiens here,
Serfs in *******, low and squalid
BUT SURVIVORS..STRONG AND CLEAR!

I wonder how far his shadow crosses
the stop line?
to rev it up a beat
in high Parenthesis,
further than the dirt tracks
towards the flinted road,
indeed to be freer than that.

A bartered dark
of full shone armours
gallowed brooks in
shins of alder
trod the clays of stilted copse
that crest the low slung chestnut rides

To inglenooks of scuttled hamlets
strung in river- maiden's hair ,
a haven for the last ascendant
flinted from the steeping turf.

A subtle art of arcane movement
starboard cupped
in stone- pocked pewter

sparks the grailed pain
of foxes harrowed
in that sudden wood.

Same serpent
New skin
She hisses
A fantasy
As she slithers in

My vulnerability
A weakness
An opportunity to
Sell a dream
The bitter
Sheathed in sweetness

I swallowed the lie
And it tasted delicious
Like fresh mint
Crushed
Into a summer mojito
Cool and crisp
Now where do we go?

How about
Lake houses
And concerts
Front porches
And desserts

Then you can

Take me to the beach
Choke me in sand
Call me a king
While twisting me into
A pawn whose silver
You leach

No longer a friend
But a means to an
End

You held my grief
In the palm
Of your hand
Then squeezed it
Like a lime
What an unholy
Crime

The scales have tipped
Your ruse has been revealed
The well is poisoned
Your wine congealed

You are nothing
But a chapter
In my story
Watch as I
Flame your pages
In resplendent
Glory

And
Dermot sang of
A raven and a dove
But in your version
Of a kingdom
Both don’t fly free

Remember me,
Oh viper
The blackbird
With a cigarette lighter
Because
You’ve been flinted
Deleted
And I’m newly
Minted

Recoil from my shine
As the truth
Burns your eyes
I bid you goodnight
And I bid you goodbye

My memory of you
Like your ego
Will wither and fade
Along with
The skin you’ve shed
In the lonely bed
You’ve made
John Bartholomew Oct 2020
We sat for 4 months alone
No friends
No family
Just Netflix and our mobile phones
We scattered around the serious subjects in life
Our jokes, our smiles, soon blended week after week
Until that river ran dry and fresh solace we did seek
For a couple can survive on meat and flinted stone
But without social company
It's hard to live
Together
Alone
