Ball and Chain
Whiskurz Jan 2013
Chained to all my past mistakes
I drag around my pain
The cries from my wicked past
Has become my ball and chain

I dare not beg for mercy
For mercy I gave none
There isn't enough forgiveness
For the terrible things I've done

My conscience that condemns me
Fills me with regret
Reminding me of the pain I've caused
Making sure I never forget

My memories make me weaker
A man who once was strong
The loneliness is what I hate the most
Punishment for all my wrong

I've burned the bridges that life has built
So here I must remain
Chained to all my past mistakes
Dragging this ball and chain

Where The Rip Began
Whiskurz Nov 2012
I've often wondered where we went wrong
What led to the steps that we took
I try to look back to see the mistakes
But it hurts too much when I look

Who was at fault, who do we blame?
Was it you or something I did?
Did both of us know something was wrong
And was it simply something we hid?

The harder we tried, the more my heart tore
I could feel it down deep in my chest
You always tried to cover your pain
And I knew you were trying your best

Why does this happen to people like us?
For you were the love of my life
We even talked about starting a family
Becoming a husband and wife

I can't tell you why things turn out this way
I don't think that anyone can
We could have mended the holes in our hearts
If we knew where the rip had began

The Old Man's Muse
Whiskurz Jan 2013
I saw a poet the other day
Just sitting with his muse
He said he's getting too old to write
So he gave her to me to use

She was filled with inspiration
But mostly filled with tears
She missed the poet she used to inspire
She was his for sixty-five years

I tried to write a poem that day
But the words came out all wrong
My muse was always distracted
She'd been with him so long

Again, I passed my poet friend
Just sitting on the street
He looked like he lost the love of his life
He was tired and wouldn't eat

I told him I couldn't use his muse
She was his to do as he will
That old man began to smile
As he dusted off his quill

Heart of Inspiration
Whiskurz Oct 2012
I wonder is Poe could have known
That his pain would bring him fame?
His words would become his legacy
So the world would know his name

Then there's "Romeo and Juliet"
A Shakespeare contribution
This was written centuries ago
But it's still in distribution

And what about this man named Frost
Known for "A Road Not Taken"
Did he know the fire he'd light inside?
Or the hunger that he'd awaken?

Then there's a man named Whitman
Known for "Song of Myself"
Did he know that these words he quietly penned,
Would be a treasure on someone's shelf?

And Elizabeth Barrett Browning
Said, "Let Me Count the Ways"
Did she understand these magical words,
Would bring her so much praise?

I'm sure they'd love to see this day
For it would bring them much delight
They are the heart of our inspiration
And the reason why we write

Oops?
Whiskurz Jan 2013
She went to the dentist for her routine exam
When she heard him say, "Oops! I'm sorry ma'am!"
That got her to thinking, "What had he seen?"
She thought, "What on earth could 'Oops' really mean?"
She sat right there and didn't make a sound
But when he wasn't looking, she was looking around
"What did he know, was it life or death?"
So she finally asked him, as she took a deep breath
He said, "I'm sorry, Dear. I didn't mean to be rude,
But with the stubble on your chin, I thought you were a dude!"

All The King's Horses
Whiskurz Oct 2012
All the king's horses and all the king's men
Couldn't put our love back together again
You've broken the trust that acts as the glue
There's nothing to fix between me and you

The words that we used are now said in vain
The memories we grew are reminders of pain
The smiles that we shared are lost to the past
The promises we made, destined not to last

Our love has been banished because of your lies
Your repeated transgressions have broken all ties
"I'm sorry" to me is but a very old song
That tells of the things that always went wrong

A knight I was not, I made no such claim
I promised no fortune, I promised no fame
I promised no castle that stood on a hill
But yet you promised your love to me still

'Twas a dragon called lust that tore us apart
His flame of desire has captured your heart
And all the king's horses and all the king's men
Couldn't put our love back together again

The Mocking Bird
Whiskurz Nov 2012
The little girl has never spoken
Not even a single word
Her voice since birth was broken
A sentence was never heard

She liked to watch the birds each day
As they played in the summer breeze
They'd always take her breath away
As she watched them in the trees

The mocking bird, her bird of choice
Would make her smile appear
She loved to hear his magical voice
Each time that he came near

And though her voice was far away
She'd whistle for his reply
She'd listen to the songs he'd play
Until he said goodbye

He made her feel like she could speak
A language they both understood
And though they used their own technique
They spoke every chance they could

A little girl and her mocking bird
Has quite the conversation
They talk all day without a word
Through the gift of imitation

Destiny's Shadow
Whiskurz Jan 2013
Embraced by the silence that pierces my soul
My shadow, my only friend
Aimlessly I wander this barren place
Not knowing where my path might end

My scars are the burdens that weigh me down
A silent reminder of pain
My reason for living remains out of sight
Too broken to ever complain

The winds often whisper my name in the night
I follow where ever it leads
The darkness inhales my will to survive
Ignoring my wants or my needs

These walls of destiny impede my view
My judgement now cloudy and tired
The decisions I make are the product of fate
A reason no longer required

My future is hollow, its echo unclear
As I stumble into the night
No promises made, my hope held captive
I pray that I soon find the light

No where to turn, no where to hide
I write to set my soul free
These voices unclear I follow a ghost
This shadow called destiny

Glass Wedding
Whiskurz Sep 2012
She sits all alone in an empty room
And silently watches it rain
She draws with her finger, a bride and groom
In her breath that's on the pane

Only twelve years old, and already grown
The chemo caused her to age
She'll never grow up and live on her own
She feels like she's trapped in a cage

She searches the window for locks of gold
Her reflection announces her shame
Her hair is all gone, she starts to look old
The cancer alone is the blame

Her breath once more, covers the glass
As a tear escapes to her cheek
She draws with her finger a stone in the grass
Her body keeps growing so weak

With one last breath she closes her eyes
And listens once more to the rain
She doesn't exhale, the little girl dies
Overcome by her horrible pain

A groom stands alone, frozen in glass
His bride was laid in the ground
Beside him stands a stone in the grass
Where the bride on the window is found

Broken
Whiskurz Jan 2013
I've read a lot of broken words
Wounded beyond repair
Sadness wrapped in tears and ink
And stories of despair

Poets are truly a special breed
They write the things they hide
Showing strangers they've never met
The pain that lives inside

Hiding their souls from those they love
Choosing paper to be their friend
Telling their secrets to a special kind
In places their hearts can mend

Hoping that someone can understand
The meaning of their grief
Where an unseen friend will extend a hand
And offer a little relief

Poets are truly a special breed
Through words that's never spoken
Though some are sure of who they are
Most are simply broken

A Color That Has No Name
Whiskurz Jan 2013
This color is yet to get a name
Though most have seen its hues
For some this color is not yet known
For they've yet to pay their dues

There are no words to help describe
This color we carry inside
It's never seen the light of day
In darkness, it chooses to hide

Though many have tried to define it
None can comprehend
You need the light to see the colors
But the light cannot decend

Empty spaces and hollow dreams
Encompass its outer core
Shadows of what used to be
Block the only door

This color though it has no words
Will tear your world apart
A color that has no name at all
Is the color of a broken heart
Whiskurz Dec 2012
I've heard it said that poems of love
Are nothing more than cliche'
Everything's been written, everything's been said
In every conceivable way

They've written about the ocean's blue
Or a smile that could envy the sun
They write of this thing called undying love
Until their days on this earth are done

But what about you're the reason God gave me lungs
To shout your name from the highest of hills
And the reason He made those goosebumps things
When your touch keeps giving me chills

And what about those unanswered prayers
For He knew I was waiting for you
And the part where He says in sickness and health
And the cancer you're going through

For richer or poorer and our money is gone
Hospital bills that we just can't pay
But I want you to know if you stay or you go
I couldn't love you more than I do today

A Million Miles From Home
Whiskurz Feb 2013
Time is a lot like distance
When a memory is concerned
The older we get the further we are
From the things that we once learned

One more day is another mile
From the way that we were taught
The priceless time when we grew up
A memory that can't be bought

The day we finished high school
We thought that we were grown
One more mile and another day
As we set out on our own

Then the day that we got married
We would walk a few more miles
Another day and further away
As we faced our troubles and trials

Time is a lot like distance
Every second that we roam
It slips away a little each day
'Til we're a million miles from home

Illusion
Whiskurz Jan 2013
I breathe the air of discontent
I fail in all my goals
I walk the path that never ends
Not knowing where it goes

My hopes and dreams are buried deep
In a place that I can't find
I follow voices only I can hear
Within my infected mind

I tell them my soul is not for sale
But yet they beckon me come
I peer into this place unknown
That's too unholy for some

What have I on earth to trade?
A failure since my birth
Even hell would turn its back
A scar upon this earth

Cursed to walk this world alone
An illusion, nothing real
Friend to me is a foreign word
Too numb to even feel

Thoughts Trapped In Ink
Whiskurz Jan 2013
Thoughts trapped in ink, scar the paper's white form
As the poet gives way to her quill
Letters falling down, not making a sound
As they bend and bow to her will

She watches the words that's now taking shape
As the ink starts to flow from her veins
Her paper of white, hold the letters so tight
Making sure that its captive remains

Thoughts trapped in ink, now a whisper of life
Born from the lost poet's soul
Her words come alive as they blossom and thrive
Refusing to relinquish control

She relies on her muse as it shouts out commands
Telling her quill what to write
Her poem is finished, when her pain has diminished
As she writes 'til late in the night

Thoughts trapped in ink, are silent, yet loud
The only way thoughts can be heard
All has been said, when her poem is read
Her thoughts, becoming a word

No One To Tell Goodbye
Whiskurz Dec 2012
A shadow of imperfection
Sorrow caught in a jar
An empty space filled with doubt
The heart of a falling star

A cry heard by no one
An ember, once a flame
A teardrop without a reason
A puddle filled with blame

An answer without a question
A silent lonely stare
A hand reaching for nothing
No one's standing there

A mirror with no reflection
A heart, cracked and worn
Today without tomorrow
A soul that's withered and torn

A blade colored in crimson
Without a reason why
Nothing can stop the bleeding
No one to tell goodbye

Wisdom Teeth
Whiskurz Dec 2012
I learned a lesson a long time ago
Back before I met my wife
I made a choice I can never take back
The worst decision of my life

Now don't get me wrong I love my wife
She's the apple of my eye
I just do whatever she tells me to
And I've learned not to ask her why

Now you might say I'm henpecked
Well, my wife says that's not true
At least that's what she told me to say
Whenever I writing to you

Now it's not her fault that I'm not that wise
She says It happened before we met
Sometimes I just sit and stare at her
'Cause there's some things I just don't get

I used to be smart but not anymore
See my brain was stolen by a thief
My wife says it happened when I went to the dentist
And he pulled all my wisdom teeth

Soul of a Poem
Whiskurz Nov 2012
Filled with different emotions
The letters are carefully chosen
Late at night the poet will write
When time feels like it's frozen

We write about our happy endings
To cover up our pain
We write our grief to feel relief
But our words will never complain

Each letter takes his place in line
On the tip of the poet's quill
His only care is to try to share
An emotion the reader can feel

The letters start to form the words
That's chosen by the muse
Try as he might the words he'll write
There's a few he'll have to reuse

But once the poet lays down his quill
And everythig's been said
His pain will cease and bring him peace
Each time the poem is read

You're Wrong
Whiskurz Jan 2013
How can you tell me you know who I am
When part of me doesn't exist?
Maybe it's something that's not really there
Something you couldn't resist

An emptiness is born inside of my soul
A void that I'll never fill
Just broken pieces of what used to be
Pieces that will not heal

Like the sound that's lost in the distance
I've somehow lost my way
I keep trying my best to buy my way out
But I can't find anyone to pay

I tell you, "I'll change" but you know it's a lie
You think you have figured me out
I will be whoever you want me to be
But that's not what love is about

How can you tell me you know who I am?
How can I tell you, "You're wrong?"
I'm broken and used, it's too late to change
I've been this person too long

What's in a Name?
Whiskurz Nov 2012
My wife says I'll never be famous
'Cause Whiskurz is a stupid name
I said, "That's not what my parents called me"
She said, "Your real one is just as lame"

"You'll never be a William Shakespeare,
Longfellow, Frost or Poe"
"You won't even be a Dr. Seuss,
I hate to have to tell you so"

I said, "Whiskurz is easy to remember"
She said, "That's just a dumb excuse"
I said, "At least I don't just make names up,
What is a Dr. Seuss?"

She just shook her head and walked away
While I pondered what she had said
I yelled, "It doesn't really matter who they were,
'Cause like Elvis, they're all dead"

So I'll change my name to Elvis
But if I get sued, she's the blame
I still think Whiskurz is easy to remember
But I guess it won't bring me fame

The Cracks

Little by little I fall through the cracks
With no one to help me get out
I'm truly mundane alone in my pain
With no one to hear when I shout

A shadow's shadow an illusion at best
A memory that fades like the breeze
Hidden from view that nobody knew
I'm nothing that nobody sees

They gave me a name that they never use
I don't even know who I am
They made me this way I'm sorry to say
They've proven they don't give a ****

When I look in the mirror the reflection is gone
I can't even describe all my pain
My body survives my heartache still thrives
But my spirit is only a stain

Little by little I fall through the cracks
And I'm starting to disappear
For it won't be too long before I am gone
Just like I was not even here

Didn't you love me enough to stay?
Or did you have no choice?

When Diamonds Are Born
Whiskurz Dec 2012
When diamonds are born they're named after you
For you're the most precious thing on this earth
You're the most priceless thing, that God ever made
Diminishing the diamond's worth

You're even the reason that God made smiles
For without you they wouldn't exist
The sun even smiles when he sees you walk by
For he simply just couldn't resist

God made the oceans as blue as your eyes
Not the other way around
And I was the lost that no one could find
Until you became my found

Even the rose petals become your reflection
For that's the only reason they grow
They even asked God to be as special as you
But He simply told them no

Some might even say that I'm a little selfish
For I won't even let people stare
But when the Good Lord above gave me your love
He told me never to share

Tomorrow has no meaning
A place I do not know

The paper is my shelter
It hides my past mistakes
My heart will tell me what to say
Before it finally breaks

My soul cries out in sad remorse
But no one hears me cry
No one offers a helping hand
They only pass me by

Before they disappear

They fade and never last

Your lipstick on your coffee cup
Reminds me of your smile
I know you're gone but for so long
I lived in blind denial

You used to take my breath away
When you danced across the floor
Your promenade would somehow fade
Leaving me wanting more

The birds that's in the Heavens
Still sing of our romance
So hear their tune, I'll see you soon
To dance where angels dance

And the wishes in life are sown

Where nightmares are cast aside
A place where darkness fades away
And the sun refuses to hide

Where way up high beyond the clouds
The garden of smiles is found
Where all of our happy endings
Are lying on top of the ground

A place that's neither here nor there
For it's simply in between
A land that only a few will find
A place that's seldom seen

Beyond the mountain's whisper
Is a place where tears are banished
A land where hopes and dreams are grown

Growing old was not my fault
Nor was it in my plans
I followed the path life gave me
Just like time demands

Discarded like a memory
That's no longer of any use
Rejected and neglected
My age is no excuse

No one comes to visit me
It's like I don't exist
They think I can't remember
So, I'm silently dismissed

Solitary confinement
What am I being punished for?
You tell me that you love me
But don't visit anymore

No one to tell my troubles to
Or to talk about the past
A prisioner of my loneliness
How much longer can it last?

Banned from all existence
By the wrinkles on my face
One day soon, you'll feel my pain
For you will take my place

Our Spirit's Song
Whiskurz Dec 2012
What is poetry? I've heard it said
It's something you can feel
A thousand thoughts caught in your head
That causes our souls to heal

It's never about a pretty word
Or even the poet's style
It's about a moment we've lived or heard
That always makes us smile

It's something hidden deep inside
That we need the world to see
Or maybe a pain that we can't hide
Once written will set us free

A poem is maybe a dream we've chased
A dream we've never caught
A poem is all the trials we've faced
Memories that can't be bought

A poem is never right or wrong
Sometimes it heals a scar
Sometimes it's called our spirit's song
It's part of who we are

When you're told you're going to die
The things you took for granted
Will no longer pass you by

'Cause you take the time to smell
And the things that went unnoticed
Now live to say farewell

The things you touch seem different
While marveling at the feel
You wonder why you have to die
To make things seem so real

The gentle winds that kiss your face
Now bring you to your knees
You never notice until it's too late
The joy that's in the breeze

The past becomes your future
Remembering your mistakes
You live each day to right the wrong
No matter what it takes

The hardest part is saying goodbye
To all the people you love
One more day is all you want
It's all you're thinking of

You're amazed by God's creation
While counting every breath
The world will never look the same
As you look through the eyes of death

We write when we can't sleep
Emptying our souls with pen and paper
From heartaches buried so deep

Haunted souls keep us awake
'Til late into the night
Our inner demons hold us captive
But freed by the words we write

Bound by thoughts our lips can't speak
Our pens, our only release
We write our pain in black and white
The colors that bring us peace

Silence fills the poet's heart
As our minds are filled with doubt
Held hostage to our agony
'Til our words come tumbling out

Finding the reason for all our pain
Our words begin to weep
Only then can the poet rest
And finally go to sleep

Her thoughts of yesterday
Pressed between the pages
So they couldn't fade away

Grandma would read us stories
From her bible every night
But she'd stop to smell the roses
That the pages held so tight

She'd always smile and close her eyes
As she traced the petal's form
Her mind would drift to things long passed
As her broken heart would warm

She'd tell us of a oak tree
Where Grandpa carved her name
The place where they got married
Where two hearts beat the same

He gave her on their wedding day
This rose she loves to touch
It takes her back to yesterday
To a man she loved so much

The day that Grandma passed away
And we laid her in the grave
We buried her with that bible
And the flowers that Grandpa gave

You offered me your wedding ring
Then tossed in on the floor

I dreamed I begged you not to go
But you never heard my plea

Love's Seed

Tethered together, we seek no more
For love has planted a seed
Fed by the joy that helps it grow
Filling each other's need

Quenching our thirst on the nectar of life
That only two people can share
Two ****** souls entwined on one vine
Growing where ever we dare

The roots of affection get stronger each day
As our love continues to grow
Like two morning glories touched by the moon
Each one beginning to glow

The season of love has now come and gone
But our roots will never relent
Though the weeds of the world will try to move in
We'll never be broken or bent

Now held together with one common bond
Just one single beat of a heart
We're no more twain, but now one flesh
Nothing can tear us apart

A Love Story
Whiskurz Dec 2012
The stars reflect her beauty
While competing for her smile
Each one thinks her love is theirs
While filled with blind denial

She continues to entice them
As each one feels her stare
Her love belongs to all of them
But none will choose to share

A falling star is nothing more
Than a star with a broken heart
Crippled by her rejection
It will suddenly fall apart

Whenever you see a twinkling star
It's just the Lover's dance
Vying for her attention
In its quest to find romance

The Dippers, both big and small
Were formed to quench her thirst
They stand in line to honor her
As they battle to be the first

The Northern Star takes precedence
As he points which way to go
His countenance is blinding
As he absorbs her radiant glow

So, don't forget to watch the stars
And smile each time they swoon
For now you know this love story
Between the stars and moon

The Treasure
Whiskurz Dec 2012
High on a mountain in a foggy mist
He buried his treasure one night
He laid it down in the cold dark ground
Beneath the bright moonlight

A tree is where he placed his X
To mark where his treasure lay
A mountain man who lived off the land
A place he was destined to stay

All alone just him and his treasure
It had been that way for thirty-five years
But late at night by dim moonlight
He would often be brought to tears

Each day he would check on his treasure
Beneath that lonesome oak tree
In an old wooden box then covered with rocks
For whoever passed by would see

He cherished his treasure that only God gives
And he would for the rest of his life
Until one day the man passed away
And was buried beside his wife

Another X was made on that tree
Her treasure was finally found
Years have passed but he's home at last
Beside his treasure in the ground

History's Heart
Whiskurz Sep 2012
Tucked in the corner between today and the past
A cabin, sits covered in dust
Its roof made of tin and never meant to last
Now held together by rust

Torn from the pages of history's heart
It sits on borrowed time
Just waiting for tomorrow to pick it apart
Crippled, and passed its prime

Its cupboards now bare, but for two rusty cans
That sit all alone on its shelf
Hung by the fireplace, some old pots and pans
Just barely a ghost of itself

Its windows now lost to the heat and the cold
It's door, now broken and bent
Its chimney in pieces, the mud wouldn't hold
Its stones now crumbled and spent

Yesterday's shadow, still cast on the ground
As it waits for the seasons to start
It's dying each day, without making a sound
As it's torn from history's heart

When Shadows Cry
Whiskurz Sep 2012
Today I watched a shadow cry
His sleeves were filled with pain
He wept the tears of love gone bad
That left an empty stain

His tears screamed out in silence
For they didn't make a sound
His cheeks were wet with memories
As they tumbled to the ground

Have you ever seen a shadow cry,
When love goes incomplete?
He'll stare into his liquid pain
That puddles on the street

Deep within the puddle's tears
The shadow starts to wade
The love he knew has said goodbye
His reflection starts to fade

Today I watched a shadow cry
As it drifted out to sea
I could feel the pain this shadow felt
For this shadow belonged to me

Twilight
Whiskurz Dec 2012
Oh lady fair, of twilight mist
Why must thou leave so soon?
What beauty will thine eyes have missed
Beneath the coming moon?

Thou hath never seen the dark of night
Neither the stars so high
Thou hath never seen the bright sunlight
That kisses the eastern sky

Trapped between the night and day
In a place thou can't escape
Never to see the magical way
The shadows change their shape

Just a prisoner of the inbetween
That vanishes in the night
A legend told, but never seen
A mystery to the light

Though fleeting is thy life long curse
Thou art blessed never to know it
For thy name hath inspired many a verse
To many an unknown poet

Oh lady fair, of twilight mist
Why must thou leave so soon?
What beauty will thine eyes have missed
Beneath the coming moon?

The Land of Broken Smiles
Whiskurz Jan 2013
I found a place where love can't go
The silence is heard for miles
A place where dreams will never grow
In the land of broken smiles

A land where love has been replaced
With lots of empty things
The only sound that's been embraced
Is the sound a heartache brings

A land with echoes far and wide
A lonely and hollow sound
A barren place where hope has died
With smiles all over the ground

A land where trust is just a myth
A place where lies have grown
Where scars are built to justify with
For that's all I've ever known

Happy endings are cast aside
And stacked in tiny piles
The only place where love's denied
In the land of broken smiles

Used To Be
Whiskurz Dec 2012
I watched the sun come up today
Its beauty made me cry
I watched the sparrows fly away
They flew so very high

I stopped to pick a garden rose
And held it in my hand
I marveled at the one I chose
Its stem too weak to stand

I smelled the rain before it fell
Before it made a sound
I've really learned to love that smell
Like nothing else I've found

I watched the moon begin to rise
As the sun began to set
A beautiful glow lit up the skies
Something I won't forget

But I'd trade it all for one more day
When you were here with me
It's really a very small price to pay
For the way it used to be

Silence
Whiskurz Dec 2012
While sitting in a quiet room
My thoughts become so loud
The voices stuck inside my head
Somehow become a crowd

There's no such thing as silence
It's something we can't find
An empty space is just a myth
The noise is in our mind

Whenever you think you're all alone
A memory is by your side
It's something we cannot control
No matter how hard we've tried

Even when we're fast asleep
A dream will share its voice
Hidden things our minds must say
And still we have no choice

Sit for just a minute or two
To see if you resist
Your mind will betray your quiet time
For silence doesn't exist

The Missing Word
Whiskurz Nov 2012
When words are lost against their will
A search party will insue
The poet will look for just the right word
For nothing else will do

Sometimes he'll look for days on end
While conspiring with his muse
But no matter how hard the poet looks
There's nothing else he can use

The other words stand so tall and proud
Hoping to fill his space
But the poet keeps looking both day and night
With determination all over his face

The letters paitently wait their turn
To fill the poet's quill
But until he finds that special word
None of them ever will

And just when he's almost given up
A whisper from his muse makes him smile
He found the word that he couldn't find
Although it took him a while

Crooked Shadow
Whiskurz Dec 2012
A darkened veil of endless pain
Cover the eyes of my heart
Like a poet imprisoned without his quill
Or an artist, without his art

Complacent in all of my choices
But reprobate to a fault
Torn asunder from the rest of the world
Scarred by endless assault

An open wound with infectious bile
A ***** that will not heal
Confused and alone, I've lost my way
Broken, I cannot feel

Like a puppet on a lonely stage
My strings are in your hands
Cursed to follow and never to lead
Just following your commands

A crooked shadow, never quite right
A place to wipe your feet
Bent in the line my heart has drawn
Never to feel complete

Bed of Roses
Whiskurz Sep 2012
The sunshine told the flowers
That you're not here anymore
Their petals just don't seem to smile
Quite like they did before

Your name is whispered in the wind
Each time I feel the breeze
The willows miss you since you left
And all of the other trees

The birds won't sing their happy songs
Like they did when you were here
The rainbows come to look for you
But then they disappear

You always took care of the flowers
Now the flowers take care of you
You fill them with your presence
The way you used to do

In a beautiful bed of roses
Is where the angels let you sleep
But you're the most beautiful flower
That the roses will ever keep

A Poet's Words
Whiskurz Dec 2012
A poet's words are on his sleeve
Found mostly in the night
An emotion stirred will often weave
The words he needs to write

Some by rhyme others by prose
Whatever the poet's choice
He writes the emotion he has chose
Giving his words a voice

Some are deep inside his heart
While others are on his face
The poet tries to perfect his art
With the scars that he'll erase

His poem is written to free his soul
And make him feel complete
He'll write the words that must console
And stave off his defeat

He finds the emotion that holds him tight
Then writes his own release
He chooses his words and continues to write
Until he finds some peace

Where Smiles Are Born
Whiskurz Feb 2013
A hidden place where smiles are born
Is tucked inside your hearts
It's touched by joy and begins to grow
That's where it always starts

But before the smile can ever be seen
And show upon your faces
It travels through your minds and souls
And stops in many places

It will pause and kiss your funny bones
To see if you need to laugh
If not, it travels a little bit farther
And chooses a different path

It stops in a place called second thoughts
Where it sits for just a while
And once your minds have thought it over
It moves on towards a smile

When it finally makes it to your face
It stops right where it's at
And I hope that after you've read this poem
I caused it to do just that
