Don’t Look Me In The Eye
Evelyn Nov 2019
Don’t look me in the eye.

The eye is close to the cheek

and you will see my pink blush

and my embarrassed fluster

at your gentle approach.

Don’t look me in the eye.

The eye is close to the mouth

and you will see my lips bitten

as I ponder what to say,

fruitless all the while.

Don’t look me in the eye.

The eye is close to the heart;

my secret gaze is hard to hide

and has been encapsulated by your

kind and loving heart

long before your look

stole mine.

Spring
Evelyn Nov 2019
leaves of green, a beacon
when all is grey and old
and the cold bites at our fingers.
and thus, life.
crawling from the depths of frost
and leaving its hiding-hole,
visiting the surface in a calm resolve.
bursting toward our vision,
coming forth in a wide array
of bright and dark.
wide and shallow.
all different, yet all the same.
visions of a new day
that circle our eyes
and crawl to our senses
letting us enjoy the truth.
