A little girl jumps as she frolics to class,
She looks up at her mom and laughs.
She runs through those open doors,
Barefoot, she tugs on her mom’s clothes.
She looks at her mother while she ties her shoes,
She jumps down and runs to class to learn the moves.
With each hand in the air,
She laughs without a care

He was tall and strong,
Didn’t say much, just watched.
I would climb up the trees to get mangos,
As he would watch.
I would fall and he would watch.
I would wait for my share of those juicy fruits,
Yet I would never get any.
Being the smallest I would cry,
Then he would call me.
Taking me to his secret stash,
And letting me pick as many as I pleased.
He would then smile and tell me to go play.
Those were my fondest memories of him.
I miss you...

Words to make others laugh,
Laughter to make them believe,
Smile to cast no doubt,
Don’t feel pain.
Put on a facade for the rest
At home back into the nest.
Don’t let them see
Be filled with glee.
They only know
What you show.
Put on your facade as an aide
To make them laugh.

Lightning strikes- a fury unfolds,
Streaks of blood paint the horizon,
Roots- struggle to stay in the ground,
Yet they fail,
Bodies lose sense of emotion and clarity,
Lives enter but never to return,
In the fury there is only chaos.

I sit in this prison
Which was once my home,
Four walls that try to confine me
While my thoughts roam,
From the outside, my window looks like prison bars
Yet they are my only escape.
I stare out and look at the street,
Everything so desolate.
I spend my days on a piece of metal
Looking to see if anyone’s doing anything special,
But what seems like hours ends up being only seconds.
It is now that I realize the need for the outside world.
i thought quarantine would be a fun break from school... i was rlly wrong.

Her nose senses a smell
And she begins to dwell,
Fear consumes her every breath
As she continues into the depth,
She looks around
To find ground,
Yet she sees nothing
But she feels a strange thing,
A small string- she tugs
Light- she sighs with a shrug,
Finally, she can breathe
And pretend to be free.
