Try Again

We always want things to work out in our favor,
And when they don’t, we sometimes waver,
The trials of life, that just don’t seem right,
Helps build character, for the next steps of our life,
We always want to pass every test,
To win every challenge, to be the very best,
And when we lose, we get full of frustration,
We begin to question, our level of dedication,
To understand that life is not all about competing,
Helps you understand the difference between losing and winning,
And when you lose, you will have no doubts,
That trying it again, is what life is all about.

Someone Cares

When you’re feeling alone, and really scared,
You have to remember that someone cares,
When everything you do, seems to get you nowhere,
You have to remember that someone cares,
When problems seem too rough to bear,
You have to remember that someone cares,
When broken promises, leave you in despair,
You have to remember that someone cares.
When problems of life, seem too hard to repair,
The thought of knowing that your support is near,
Should give you the encouragement to persevere.

Love is feisty, but love is sweet,
Love will wake you up out of your sleep,
Love will wait, love doesn’t move,
Love is real, love is smooth,
Love is gentle, love is dancing,
Love is not confusion, but understanding,
Love is peaceful, in the mist of rain,
Love is bold, love is not ashamed,
Love has no limits, love finishes strong,
Love is not one minute, but all night long,
Love is forever, until the end of time,
Love is like the moon; it will forever shine.

Pride

Pride tells me that everyone else around me,
Is beneath me,
It says that I’m superior,
And I’d prefer to hang with those,
Who are more on my level,
Pride never speaks about my insecurities,
Because this would expose my vulnerabilities,
Leaving people to appreciate the real me,
Leaving me defenseless,
To not worry about the attention,
That I’m always seeking,
Because it is unreal,
Putting on a facade,
And covering up the way I really feel,
It's time to eliminate Pride.

True Story

My teacher gave us an assignment to write,
An essay about someone who inspired us in life,
I wrote about my mother, it wasn’t hard to see,
That if it wasn’t for her, there would be no me.
It enlightened my heart in a special way,
As my teacher read the essay of the day.
She read each line with emphasis and grace,
and all the tears began to roll down her face.
It made my heart smile, and I felt really good,
To know that my teacher really understood,
That raising a child should be an inspiring thing,
Even though you're a single parent, it isn't hard as it seems,
Mom taught me everything, whether wrong or right,
She had an enormous impact on my life,
Through tremendous opposition, but loving connection,
She taught me bravery, and not perfection.

FEAR

timidity, and anxiety, always thinking someone’s after me
doubt, and worry, always stressing about things I can’t see
troubles, and trials, distresses of life that always keep me down
hardships, and concerns, the things in life I fear I never learned
fright, and unease, the things that keep me down at night on my knees
watching, and waiting, everything and everyone seems so aggravating
so hard, so long, this uncontrollable feeling of fear
that keeps me from moving on.
