Help poor children in ways big or small, some.
A book, a pen, some toy do give a poor.

Many people, millions earn,

Let's collect garbage in many an urn.

Then municipality may destroy or burn.

Follow we must n strictly adhere to rules laid;

Which our ancestors have in detail, with great care made.

Or soon others to this Parsi clan; a farewell will bade.

Following our religion has to come from within; one can't be paid.

Let's deeply respect our religion; n decide not to fade.

Good fun, at yesterday's picnic had we.

Loved we Ketu's poro pau n the hot tea

Adalaj vaw because of steps many, I didn't see.

Shantini Ketan, was spotlessly clean.
There was peace and all was serene.

There was a lot of space, with swings n the lawn emerald green.

Played games, sang n ate a sumptuous meal  we.

Thank dear Meher Aunty, Ketu, Minnie Aunty, with all our hearts, we.

For this enjoyable day, when freak out like youngsters could we.

ARE WE REALLY CIVILIZED ?

Ask ourselves this we must; are we really civilized ?

The harm we are causing to Nature;

Faces we have three; external, internal n for people close.

The one for outsiders, is the one, with a mask you compose.

The other one is where shed off some of the mask; making foes.

The original is your true self; what you actually are.

Your character  is what you are, look within; need there isn't to go far.

If you painstakingly build it; with a seer, my dear, one can be at par.

But slip if you, become you will, your own biggest foe.

Look within or into a mirror, and your true self you will get to know.

નાનકડું પાંદડું ખર્યું અને વૃક્ષ પરથી એ થયું જુદું

જેમાં ઇમાનદારીની પાઇ પાઇ નાખી હતી, વસે છે એમાં અમારી જાન

EVERY CHRISTMAS

Every year, come Christmas and Santa I wish to become.
And to cute little children, distribute gifts some.
Hope I, many more people in my endeavour would come.

If rich I would be, even the old a Xmas gift would get.
There are so many elders who need this; many whom I've met.
Who, for their children n grandchildren often desperately fret.

The Sleeping Santa in us, if we awoken, and put into action;
Wonderful, truly beautiful n magnificent would be the reaction.
Can we all, such like-minded people form such a faction ?

Christmas then really will be Merry. And the following New Year, happy will be.

માનવએ જ્યારથી રાંધતા શીખ્યું, ત્યારથી જરૂર આપ્યો હશે એને, ચૂલાને આવકાર

Let's go back a little n become lil college gals once again;

Let's go back in time, for a minutes few, to 1971, when it all began.

Pearl n me meeting Badri Prasad in the lift; n his becoming our friend

Our meeting Nisha (not Neesha) n how she to the Nsg. College did land.

Mabel's attack of asthama, rushing her to Nair, that's how our friendship did start

With France n Veera, remaining as Mrs Sigamany's giddy goats we did; till we finally did part

Pearl once even became Dr. D'sousa's daughter by saying "present Daddy", was real fun

Bunking English classes n going to the canteen, by us, was frequently done.

Cherish I, those detours to K. Rustoms, for "1 Pista sandwich n 2 same things"

My darling Af lovingly taking us like a mother hen, under her wings

Oh! Endless memories, soooo very many, fun filled ones, fill my mind n heart

Of my very being, now they are an integral, important, inseparable part.

महफ़िल भरी थी, फिर भी भीड़ में, एक दिल था अकेला ।

ऐसा भी नहीं है की खूबसूरत नहीं था मेला ।

थी वहां चेहल पहल, समा था बहुत ही रंगीला ।

संगीत था, थी खुशबू, आलम था अलबेला ।

यह दिल करता नहीं फरियाद, पर दुःख अपनोसे ही उसे है मिला;

गम हैं इस बात का की अपनो ने ही, अपना न समझा; इस लिए हो गया वो अकेला ।

केहनेको तो, अपने थे सभी वहां;  ऐसे तो था सब अपनो का ही यह मेला ।

फिर भी न जाने क्यों, अपनो के बीच, था वो बेचारा दिल, बिलकुल अकेला ।

ROOTS
Roots, so very important are, to grow a luxuriant tree

from these shackles, a tree does not ever try to itself free.

The trunk however strong, does not survive, if it's roots are rotten;
                                    
same truth holds for our roots; we will perish, if they are forgotten
                                              
Today “multi-culture” is in fashion, hence to our roots, properly we tend not.

Just to marry out of the fold, many  wars are often  fought.

When in a “bhel-puri” situation, a child lives n grows

religious values different, often confuse him; that's  why, them, out he  throws.
                                              
Weak grow his roots, sadly, from the very beginning of life !

As he grows up, alongside grow his confusion and he lives in strife.

Strengthen our ROOTS we must; passing it on to generation next.
                                                    
Only if we know the Avesta, can we strengthen our children's future,  with this text.

होली आइ, तु न आया, करु मै तेरा इंतज़ार;

हर पल तेरी याद सताए, याद आए तु मोहे बार बार

नवरंगो से कर दे तु, मोहपे रंगीन बौछार

भिगो दे चुनर, तन, मन मेरा; रंगों का है यह त्योहार

और दे मोहे थोड़ा सा अनमोल वोह प्यार ।

राहों में आंखे बिछाए, करू मैं तेरा इंतज़ार

और कुछ नहीं, बस चाहूं मै तेरा दीदार

तब मिलेगा इस बेताब दिल को, थोड़ा सा करार

On this International Women's Day, I write about a simple unknown personality, whom I luckily happen to know very closely ......

MY WOMAN OF SUBSTANCE

Achievers there are hundreds, doctors, engineers, astronauts, chartered accountants et al

But the woman of substance I admire most is, my very own Austi Jerbanu

A great person, a dedicated teacher, who actually lived by the principles she taught

A teacher who just didn't teach; she actually practised every word that she preached

Life tough was when suddenly at a tender age of six, from rich she became very poor

She lost her father; and the family its riches, within months, almost simultaneously

Kids had to go to orphanages, she went to Avabai Petit as Maayji couldn't their fees afford

Clever n outstanding in Studies, they sponsored college which she graciously declined, due to responsibilities at home

Did her teacher's training, remained unmarried to bear the responsibilities of mother n her grandma

Once an accomplished teacher; she brought a niece n nephew to this city, for education better

Along side, she knitted Kusti, n woolies, embroidered sari borders, to well educate the kids

Gave tutions to only two as per rule; but taught a dozen or so kids free

Educated her niece to a prominent surgeon become; n her nephew to a MBA become.

Then came a Bombaite, pampered by her parents, to live with her, as her niece in law

Thus grew my relationship with her into a strong bond, making her my soulmate

Soon she became my very own Jer Mummy, my treasure trove, which she will eternally remain.

Learnt I, so many things from her, but most importantly, the true values of a simple life.

My Shez n I grew up under her wings; she groomed n blossomed us, into beautiful roses

She definitely is the one, n always will be, our all. The one we love, admire and passionately adore.

MY WOMAN OF THIS CENTURY, WHO INCULCATED SO MUCH, SO SELFLESSLY, WITH HER UNCONDITIONAL LOVE. "MA WE LOVE YOU".

Small in stature, big in determination you were.
For  "jai jawan jai Kisan "; hats off to you Sir.
Holds this true even today; in the present culture.

A true son of Mother India you were; n always will be so.
Your death, for India's development , was a big blow.
In your presence, different would have been the flow.

Respects deep, pay you I, o  revered Lal Bahadur ;
For this determined answer to the enemy , you proved to be Bahadur.
This entire country salute you should, o  great son-Lal Bahadur.

High in the sky, I fly; soaring really really  high.

To stay there,  with all my heart, I sincerely did try.

From up there,  into matters of importance, I tried to pry.

With pride and ego, afloat stayed I, in the vast sky.

Felt I, to Earth stay connected ; after all, why should I ?

To float around, to bloat around, definitely , decided I.

But God, a plan had otherwise.

now my "Karma", made me cry.

Broke the thread that me connected ,so very high.

Pride, disconnected me, leaving me all alone, high n dry.

TALK TO AHURA

After we pray, we must talk to Ahura, privately, in silence deep

Also, time this is correct, to contemplate n within, deeply peep

Do properly check; have  any vices like ego, anger within us seeped

If they have, quickly analyze how n why into you, they have heaped

Teach us O Adhura, prayers to overcome vices these, that have seeped

Remove them let us, with the power of prayer, once we have within, peeped.

An action quick n timely, help us will, to away these vices keep

Our prayers, to our subconscious mind, an alarm sounds; that does beep.

That's why after we daily pray; we must, for a minute, within peep.

Treat everyone alike, for your  creator's, for your God's sake .

He has made us all; men, beasts, worms and birds

We are all children His; Hindu, Jew, Christian, Muslim, Parsi, Kurds.

Learn we must, compassion; to live and let others live;

This is what each human has to practise. But we must this, first conceive.

THANK YOU O MAZDA

Wish I do not, to eat delicacies, on a gold or  silver platter;

It will perhaps make me egoistic,  proud or at least, make me fatter

Thank you I most sincerely  O Mazda,  for the rice, dough n batter.

Happy I am indeed with the goodies granted, n of course my bread, jam n butter.

Foodies we are, n granted us You have aplenty; nothing there  is to  complaine or mutter.

A sincere request I make to people like me; waste food do not, let it not go into a gutter.

Food, water n clean air, O Ahura, are Your precious gifts unto us mankind

Eat, enjoy and a little share we must, with others; this always must be on our mind.

Learn we  must, to inculcate n incorporate Your attributes; n to be grateful n kind.

A wee bit of effort on our part can save a lot of water n food,  which we willingly must.

Wish I could afford to refrigerators install, where people, the extra food could deposit;

May I kindly request RESTAURANT n HOTEL OWNERS to help out n do their bit.

The needy could use it, to their hunger eliminate; fill up their burning empty pit.

Bells will soon be chiming beautifully  on this holy night.

O Lord, pray I, may things soon be wonderful and bright.

The world groping in darkness is; give us the much needed light.

Help us to overcome our many differences; so that we don't fight.

May all negativity n dark forces be replaced by pious bright light.

May we overcome dross and attain a standard of true moral height.

May this XMAS, bring with it, plenty of peace n love of which the world is so starved of.

What is the reason of life, of  birth?
Why send you, humans
To this Earth ?

A TASK SMALL

Sun, all of us may not be able to become,

Because powerful can become only some.

But a lamp we can all, most certainly become;

Giving light, to many;  leading at least some.

Many a times, just a single ray can help someone to overcome.

Overcome grief, sorrow, depression, fatigue, to an extent some.

So let's do this task small; but an important one.

तू गया, गया संग, मेरे दिलका करार

तू गया, तो गए तुझ संग सब साजसिंगार

तू गया तो रूठे मुझसे मेरे गीत संगीत

यह तूने क्या किया, ओ मेरे मनमीत ???

जानेवाले के संग कोई जा नहीं सकता

मौत के साथ कोई लड़ नहीं सकता

इंसान भगवानके सामने हो जाता है मजबूर

लोक भी बदल जाते है; हो जाते है दूर

रोने के लिए अब कंधा भी नहीं मिलता

रिश्तेदार कतराते हैं; सच्चा रंग अब है खिलता

फितरत बदलने लगती है, अब हम लगते हैं बोझ

इतने सारे लोगों में, मिल जाते है एक दो दिलसोज़

यही है जमानेकी रीत, जिंदा रहनेवाला मरता है तिल तिल

बस अब यही है तुम्हारी नई मंज़िल

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO YOU MY ANGEL.

Wonder I, if someone asked me,

" Hum Aapke Hain kaun";

What would I them tell ?

She is My Masi Sasu !!!

Anyway, this World never would understand.

Mum, you were my soul mate, my everything.

Wonderful were those years I spent with you.

Remember I, how Vispi even teased you;

He said I was your daughter n he, your son-in-law

No Mom love would  their children, like you did.

When to heaven I come, receive me with arms open.

Love you and miss you my Jaan, I very much do.

BLARING LOUDSPEAKERS

Only if authority had I,  stop immediately I would, the use of these blaring loudspeakers

Why do people torture us; what do they honestly want, these pollution seekers?

Banned these loudspeakers should be right away, and exceptionally used in an emergency

To announce a storm, floods or similar situation, only during some crisis or in emergency

Against the use of these loudspeakers, maybe start someone should, an insurgency.

Stop should, though doubtful it is; to help solve this problem it won't; our indifferent Buerocracy

Innocent little Infants deaf can turn, or can startle and cry, when suddenly a loudspeaker does blare

Our poor pets n strays, our dogs, birds and animals others, it startles and can them scare.

Horrid voices, hoarse n dreadful screech and scream often through these loudspeakers;

So hear blasting music forcefully we have to, from these hoarse, off tuned screechers

Elders who are partially deaf; severe problems, in traffic can face; occur can fatal accidents

Sight one can umpteen such awful examples; and many more similar incidents.

Nature's laws if we constantly defy, consequences drastic we will have to definitely face

Why don't leaders, authorities, politicians, Buerocrats care for animals n this human race

The current year 2018 is almost about to end.
And the brand new 2019 is just around the bend.

On New year's eve they will, into each  other, easily blend.
It'll be festive time, that we will, to it welcome, spend.

All my good wishes to all of you, dear ones, I  send.
Lovingly, with tenderness n a prayer small, these I send.

This New Year, to become a better person, I make will, many an amend.
Also, with care great, my dreams n aspirations, I will tend.

Ahura kind, request you I; to me, your helping hand, please do lend.
Kindly walk besides me, all the time, upto the very end.

Labour of my love, a precious pearl is every poem that I write,

Ahura, Din Yazad, Ma Sharda Saraswati, Baba guides n shows me this light.

Some poems happy may be, some sad, some pensive, some actually light

Eternal love, eternally famous lovers, or on a romantic moonlight

On environment, Nature, on topics social or  on women's plight

Also on soldiers, Armed forces, martyers n leaders of might

Parents, grandparents, relatives, friends who make my life happy n bright

Imagination wild that takes me on a lengthy , uninterrupted flight

Help me O Ahura to keep writing; may every reader enjoy n think right

चलो इस बार हम कुछ अनोखा कर के दिखाए

चॉकलेट, बिस्कुट, केक, वी, के गणेशजी बनाए ।

धरती अपनी, नदी, झील, सागर अपने; फिर उन्हें क्यों करे मलिन;

भक्ति के साथ तो जुड़ी है भलाई; तो हम मीन को क्यू मारे उस दिन ?

छोटासा प्यारासा चॉकलेट का गनू महराज बनाके, उन्हें करे विसर्जित दूध में

आशीर्वाद प्रभु का पाए, मिल्क शेक की प्रसादी शुद्ध में ।

मिट्टी के गनु महराज, पानी से भिगोकर, लगाएं एक पौधा

तो अपने आप ही भगवान बढ़ा देंगे आप सब का औद्धा ।
