LONGING

A longing there is,  to now home, quickly reach ;

For this to You, O Ahura Mazda, I implore, I  beseech

Forgotten, I have the looks of my home, its dimensions, my batting pitch;

Its colourful and fragrant gardens; oh, and also,  was there a beach?

Forgotten I have those beautiful faces of angels, with whom perhaps I did play;

Or in those meadows besides the stream, with friends, where I did lazily lay

Are those gates still huge? Will they, me an entry permit, or keep me at bay?

To those, my dear ones,  who receive me will; I do have so many things to say.

Today on ROZ n MAH FRAVARNDIN, to all revered Ravans, I say a prayer quick;

"Is the flower or fruit ready ? Eagerly waiting, I am; when will You, me pick?"

Half burnt , old, and worn out is the lamp; weak is its overused wick

Now, there is a longing to get home. Perhaps I am homesick.

Aches and pains do make us very low feel;

Especially when we, under acute pain, reel

Be it physical or emotional, it takes time to heal

But give up, we must never, nor our pain conceal

Fight it bravely, we need to, however difficult it is to deal.

Remember, troubles and  pain cannot our fate seal.

A young, immature, emotional,  romantic fool she was

Didn't think she of the dire consequences, a spontaneous action, of course;

Did not realise she, that soon there would be a havoc, a heavy penalty with many a clause

Hence, of lots of trouble, she would, in the future,  be the cause

Manijeh's  immaturity, Bejan's overconfidence n attraction, did trouble cause

Love is spontaneous; but along with it come sacrifices, they didn't think, didn't pause.

Lessons many learn we have to, n before any actions, we definitely need to consider social laws

THAT FATEFUL 23rd JUNE

Some inhuman acts, indiscriminately  done by Satan's sons,  leave an undeniable permanent mark

On this fateful day , our proud Emperor Kanishk,  into the Irish coast,  near Cork, scattered into those seas, deep n dark

Three hundred and twenty-nine lively, excitedly beating hearts, those innocent lives for ever perished

Their dear ones, eagerly awaiting their arrival; would have beautiful memories,  which they could, life long cherish

Instead, disaster struck, there was wailing and crying,  there was mourning; so many relatives were absolutely shattered

We Air Indians, all of us, were shocked beyond words; speechless, helpless, we felt then, truly, words hardly mattered

Even today, I ask myself, will those sons of Satan, by God, ever be forgiven? Why did they,  those innocent lives diminish?

Why didn't those cowards attack those they had an issue with? Why do they let them rest n comfortably sit in their niche ?

How I wish, fight their battles bravely n directly they would, with the people whom they have these indifference, these issues

The world, a peaceful, secure, and safer place will become for people, once directly sensibly dealt are, these issues.

Reading a book, relaxing lazily I was on my hammock

A sqeal I heard; on peeping out, I got a real shock

Standing a little away, was an Elly small n a giraffe tall

Luckily they were both outside the compound wall

They looked cute, this Elly plump n Twigaa, majestic n tall

Frehan, who was in the resort, at Twigaa threw a ball;

This, for our four legged cutie pies, was a game; a play-call

The Elly caught it in his trunk, because it was about to fall

Now I kept my book aside, enjoying all this I was, from my hammock

When came the ball straight on to me, which Elly from his trunk, did unlock

Caught it I, n threw it back to Twigaa, who returned the ball;

Between the Twigaa and Elly, they didn't allow the ball to fall

Watching this all, was Zoish the animal lover, our cute little doll;

Besides her was standing Frehan handsome n tall, who wouldn't let the ball fall.

A video if made, would be a life time memory to this episode recall.

It seem may weird to some, or say they, I am insane;

Unassuming, simple, never ever money minded, was this legal luminary main;

Always stood up for truth n justice my Dad, tho' a legal legend, you were, with us, so simple n plain

With those great values, we match cannot; but many, we imbibe n have retained

May Mom n You, in heaven, to higher realms continue to progress, rise to higher plains.

I remember gifting  you a soft  baby pink sari, on your birthday in 1978, the first one, after I got married and came to Ahmedabad.  You were everyone's Jer Masi; but I couldn't stop myself from calling you Mummy. From that moment,  you were and will always be,  my dearest darling Jer Mummy.
You meant a world to all 3 of us.  You were the Sun and we, your planets.
Wherever you are, we love you,  and send this divine love to you.  Vispi is perhaps lucky enough to be able to reach you and wish you in person. Though far away, (in fact, don't even know really where!!!) But you are in our hearts.  Miss you very much, I DO, my friend, philosopher and guide,  my angel divine, who fills my heart with her unconditional love. Who took a frightened little girl in her loving arms and kept her there forever.

When a cute son to Yasi was born; who she generously said, I could share;

So, we played a lot, even danced n sang and some really good times we did share

Now this little boy big is; he  now showers love upon us; and shows me,  he does care.

IT'S MAHARASHTRA/GUJARAT DAY TODAY

Bombay Presidency was divided by the then politicians, those so called experienced n wise;

It would have been a huge big united and prosperous   state, otherwise.

This togetherness would have brought about a feeling of unity, prosperity, oneness.

I think, may be then, the rate of farmers, committing suicide would perhaps be a little less.

Divisions further divides people; they create not just physical separation, they create separation in the hearts n minds too.

A divided India, weaker will become; with language, caste, religion and many other such barriers; remember please, states will further divide me, from you.

It's Earth Day.... A few lines straight from my heart....

ABOUT OUR EARTH; DO WE BOTHER???

Our Earth is burning, scorching, but who is  bothered; why bother; do we really care???

We discuss, argue, hold summits; but then mostly things are forgotten; do we really care???

Forests are cleared, trees chopped off in urban areas for construction of buildings; do we really care???

Polution increases, rain decreases, water shortage is acute; but there's hardly any action; do we really bother???

Sea levels are increasing, glaciers melting and decreasing; but how does it concern us; do we really bother???

Our grandchildren may have to carry portable oxygen; but that's really not our concern; about this, do we really bother???

BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE, LET'S PLANT ATLEAST ONE TREE OR A FEW POTTED PLANTS.

MANGO, THE KING OF FRUITS & HAFOOS/ALPHANSO  IS THE EMPEROR.

Sweet as sugar,  luscious, with a mouth watering taste n flavour; are insufficient words, to a Mango describe;

Sometimes tangy, sometimes sour, but when ripe, often sweet as sugar; can't describe a Mango aptly, this scribe.

As kids, we were often, this offered, as a reward/award or you may say, a lucrative bribe.

Summers scare most of us in the tropics; but jackfruit and mangoes lure us beyond this unbearable heat;

With "Aam panna, Baflo, lassi, chhash, nimbu-pani,"  one can somewhat, the summer heat beat.

If we have many many more Mango trees, an "Aambawadi", is actually a wonderful, a truly good retreat.

So let's not just enjoy the fruit, let's also plant its seed.

1)) The summer is now really really hot.
The Sun is burning our Earth.
Can we please please please reuse water from our RO s and AC s to give water to the thirsty birds, animals and water our plants.
All this takes just a few minutes. Let's bring some mirth.

2)) Please have some plants that give out oxygen at night, in your bedrooms.
ACs are on and the oxygen level drops; plants like snake plant, spider plant etc give out oxygen; doing this is really, our efforts worth.

This cute little Daku, our Taku, is shiny, jet black, slim, lithe and swift too

If she wants to cuddle, hug and shower her love, seriously, God help you!

And if annoyed or irritated, we may have to warn the guy, "run, run, God save you "

Shoes, chappals, my colours, paint brushes etc. when destroyed, I often rue;

Besides her mischief, this little Daku, very sensitive is; even tries to talk to you.

Her love extremely genuine is, n is straight from the heart, warm n true.

God bless you n Brandana, you are both our darlings, we love, both of you.

SEPTUAGENARIAN

Seems just the other day,  I was seven, hopping, skipping, jumping; it was so exciting!

Fervently doing I was, my kasti, soon after my Navjot, my Avesta prayers religiously reciting

Also, remember I,  climbing trees, and without washing fruits, directly into them, biting

When and how the burdens of a mundane life gradually took over me, actually remember I do not;

In duties and responsibilities, one slowly gets entangled, like a spider in his own web is caught!

Teenage to youth, adulthood, parenthood,   then grandparents, n now of course what age has brought on

I have just turned into a septuagenaian; quickly changed, have things, as time slipped off, years have gone ;

It was a beautiful dawn,  bright n shining; but, I now see dusk, the shadows, night slowly but certainly coming on.

Lord kind,  let me grow old gracefully,  accepting the change that comes gradually

Help me  bear the oncoming aches and pains; and the body organs slowing down eventually

To almost any and every septuagenaian, this is bound to happen. Come it is going to,  perpetually.

TALE OF A TREE

Bare I was, because shed I had to, n that's what I sadly did; I shed off most of my leaves

But worry one must not, when in God, Nature, and humanity one firmly believes.

A kind little boy,  his water bottle emptied daily on me, as home he went from school

For him, watering me and another nearby plant was a passion; it almost became a rule

It worried him,  soon, his exams would start, followed by a summer vacation; n I was still bare.

He prayed to  Ahura; "it will soon be Navrooz, may I request You,  to both trees revive; I really about them care"

Look up he would daily, eagerly awaiting to see new, fresh little leaves, with a prayer on his lips

Just days 5 away from Navrooz we are, he thought, as he, his school left; filling his bottle, n taking a few sips.

Wow, lo behold !  what did he just see ! I had tiny little leaves bursting on my branches; all over me !

He looked Heavenward n was thrilled to this see; me, wearing a new garb; this glint of happiness in his little eyes; I loved to see !

There is no
need to be under the effect of any drink; Whiskey or gin;

Can you just close your two beautiful eyes and this situation imagine;

Surrounded you are by greenery; an orchard where grow fruits, flowers and vegetables

Discussing n women praising; how liberated ! n how much money, she does mint

But sadly,  even today,  many of them live a life, in utter poverty, a fact bitter it is

My maids n their kids, I try to teach; teach them to read n write; but they are really not at ease

Savings, I compel them to make; in a piggy bank; a small amount they have to mandatorily keep

Into details, many other, like anaemia,  sanitation, etc. I would like you to take a peep

A lot more needs to be done; celebrations we educated, perhaps afford, can;

But in reality,  in life actual, should we celebrate this day? Please put yourself there; just be that woman !

મદમસ્ત બનીને, નિત્ય ગાતાં હોય છે પ્રેમી પંખીડાંઓ, પ્રેમી યુગળો, પ્રીતનાં મીઠાં ગીત.

અને તું! કદીક તો આવીને, ક્યારેક તો આવીને, કંઈક તો આવીને કહે કાનોમાં, ઓ મનમિત.

રાધિકાને તડપાવી, મીરાંને રડાવી રડાવી, બનાવી બાવરી તુજ પ્રીતમાં, તું કેવો છે, અને ક્યાંનો દિલજીત?

કાન્હા, શું તને સ્વીકાર છે તારી- મારી બદનામી? શું આમાં છે થોડુંક બિ, આપણું હિત?

ભૂલી જાઉં છું કે તું તો છે બધાંનો, સકળ જગનો; પછી વાંક ક્યાં છે તારો? કદાચ પ્રીતમ, મેં જ એકલીએ કરી છે  પ્રીત!"

ઉંમર નો તકાજો

યાદશકિત ધીરે ધીરે ઓસરી રહિ છે,
સહનશક્તિ પણ એજ રીતે ઓસરી રહી છે;

ન જાણે હું કેટકેટલું વિસરી રહી છું,
પણ જે વિસરાવું જોઇયે, તે ક્યાં વિસરી રહી છું?

ઉંમર પોતાનો તકાજો કરે છે; તો પણ હું શા કાજ ખટાશમાં મિસરી નાખી રહી છું!

જીવનમાં બેબસ્તા,  એક કડવાશ સતત આવતો જાય છે, શું એને ઘટાડવા  મીસરી કામ આવશે?

શરીરના દરેક અવ્યયમાં દુઃખદર્દ વધી રહ્યાં છે; કામ કરતી નથી કોઇ ઔષદી, કોઇ જીવન કેસરી

માલિક, શું જીવન એક ઘુવડ બની વિતાવવું પડશે ખૂણે બેસી એક; ચપળતા વિસરી?

I KNOW, I AM STILL ALIVE

As long as I live in your heart; as long as I know, it's throbbing, of you, I am a part; I know, I am still alive.

Your memories tenderly hold my existence; for you to forget me is a constant try; I feel that resistance; that's why I know, I am still alive

Each time you look at my picture, you wish I would, to you talk; when lonely you are, you want me to alongside walk; that's why I know, I am still alive

Your thoughts hold me, they try to me reach; to listen to a reply, to hear me, they beseech, that's why I very well know, I am still alive

You keep saying, "may you progress, n happy be wherever you are"; yet you secretly wish, I wasn't really very far; that's when I most certainly know, I am alive.

AS LONG AS WE LIVE IN SOMEONE'S MEMORY, WE SHOULD KNOW WE ARE TRULY ALIVE.

On watching Sam Bahadur... (reminds me what I had written on 03 April 2021 for him)

MY WAR HERO

A man of courage and wit, forthright, fearless, indeed very brave

Tackle n handle easily he could, situations important n very grave.

His subordinates many, adored him; because, to pressure he did not cave

This Hero, towards the road to victory against Pakistan, India did pave

A soldier to the core, to fight Her enemies, he was always at the fore

Noble towards the defeated, he treated them well, goes the folks lore.

Undaunted he stood upright even when people in possession, tried to settle a score

Their shameful behavior he tolerated; for he was a soldier to the core.

When APJ visited him at the hospital, and helped solve the salary difference or dispute

Sam regretted, he couldn't, the President of India salute

Charmed he many, including APJ, with his  behavior peculiar n  astute

Sam, may Ahura bless you and keep you in His loving arms, is my prayer mute.
