I like to still my heart in the lake,

Turn my face to the turquoise sky
And let each mountain rise along the shorelines and I am

Suspended in weightless space;
A resting place between sunlight and a blacker deep.

I turn my cheek to the caress of the water's
Firm hands that
Permeate my heart with love.

A wild, alpine forest rises above

And

You are the only one

Whose arms

Around my soul

Will ever  be

Enough.

Forsake the word
Abandon rhyme
Keep no measure,
No beat, no time
Trade in thought
For mindless prose
Beginning, middle or end?
Forget about those
No point to make?
That’s the poem to keep
ALWAYS muddy the water
To make it seem deep
In a world where people have ALL their thinking done for them, thoughtless poetry is going to happen.
Inspired by a terrible “poetry” book I bought blindly from Barnes and Nobles that was fake deep and awful.

Slowly he steps towards her
Eyes locked across a crowded room
Lingering stares as he walks away from her
Knowing in his heart he wants to stay close by to her
It is a slow tethering of souls
A simmer under the surface
A fire in their eyes for each other
They’d be risking it all for one another
They’d be choosing a whole new life by agreeing to love each other
He hides his wedding band
She smiles from a distance
He asks her friends about her
But never approaches her directly
He’s gauging the possibility before he dives in
She’s daydreaming about him
He’s texting mutual friends “what does she like?”
He savors her name on his lips
Tasting what it would be like to whisper it in her ears
She imagines being folded into his arms
Completely safe in his strength
Their thoughts are intertwined with each other
Their hearts are pulled to the other
They know it’s a dangerous thing they’re playing with
Yet they each pursue it
With gentle eyes and cautious steps towards each other
They can sense it
They are almost ready to dance

He spoke
And light erupted
Trillions of stars scattered
Fixing themselves like diamonds
In the thick, black firmament
Gasping plasma into their regal frames
Their massive weight
Curving the fabric He wove for them to sit upon
They are the princes of the night sky
Singing of the Kings glory
All creation declares what He has done

Am I dead?

Dancing in the moonlight, I sang a soothing song. You laughed.

I live.

Clouds come in on puffy fluffs. You float away.

Until the morning tide.

Waters suffocate me. Your hand on my mouth, pressing down so my parents can't hear. Lights dance inside my eyes as I press my legs together.

It's  too late. You impress me. Your seed has penetrated my womb and the child is born.

There's blood on my white pillow case. Shards of brick in my hair. A brick, broken in half on the floor.

My head is pounding, aching, throbbing.

My heart. Oh, my heart! It is dying.
