In the shade of a live oak tree,
Gardenia buds are unfurling,
With their aromatic sweetness,
With flowers prized by every girl.
Spanish moss hangs on the branches,
As chayote vines ascend trees limbs ,
As their green fruit  dangles on  limbs
like ornaments on Christmas trees,
Soon to be part of the evening meal,
On the sturdy picnic table,
Under shade of the live oak tree.

When life is a burden, Lord,              
It's during times such as these,  
Help to make my life's yoke light,    
So I can feel more at ease.

When I find life caving in,
And hope seems it's at its end,
Help me, Lord, never give up,        
Peace in my heart, Lord, there send.    

Help me so I won't give up,
When life's problems come my way,
Lord, then give me the wisdom
To know what to do and say.

When a burden I find life,
Help me, Lord, in times of strife.

Numerous as heavens' stars,
And the sand on the seashore,
Are the joys you bring to me,

In it friend I take delight.

Peony flowers come in,
Colors of red, pink, and white.
They sure are lovely flowers.
In them people take delight.

A turbulent breeze with force,
Might help bequeath  peonies.

Like the ones found near my home.

If in life we're to succeed,
In obtaining peace of mind,
We need to seek good advice,
Which wisdom will help us find.

If we are to become wise,
Wisdom, Lord, help us to find.
Lord, wise help us to become,
For which our hearts are designed.

Give us the needed insight,
To live lives, Lord, that please you.
Help us strive for holiness,
Daily it help us pursue.

Lord, help us not be foolish,

And lead us to your kingdom.

Thanks, Lord, for the flowers,
That bring joy throughout the year.

And help bring much needed cheer.

Thanks for the honeysuckle,
And the lilacs when in bloom.
They're well known for their sweetness,
Like a delightful perfume.

Thanks, Lord, for mullein flowers,
Well known for treating the ear,
That are seen in abundance,
In the summer of the year.

Thanks, Lord, for the sweet peas,
With tendrils that try to twine,
Around the heart of my friend,
To squeeze her love into mine.

Thanks for all of the roses,  
In yards and the countryside,
With their sweetness and beauty,
As they open their buds wide.

When raindrops turn to snowflakes,
They then float instead of drop.
When a blizzard starts to form,
Snowflakes just don't want to stop.

The weather took a cold dip,      
Making the ponds and lakes freeze;
As snowflakes make their way down,
They make snow tufts on the trees.

Snowflakes land upon the ice.
The ice soon will not be seen;
As moonbeams make their debut,
They make the sight more serene.

When it's snowing on the dell,
Beauty found there sure is swell.

The countryside of Ireland,
Is where Mary Anne does go.
When she vacations Ireland,
With sunshine Ireland does glow.

From her heart of bright sunshine,
Her contagious smiles are lit
Each one is full of beauty,
All of Ireland will admit.

Ireland has its emeralds,
But the jewel that's prized most,
Is the heart of Mary Anne,
That's treasured from coast to coast.

The folk of Ireland delight,
In her visits there for sure.
Her heart has esteemed sunshine,
Her smiles, bright, it makes occur.

It's when she is in Ireland,
Ireland's beauty is more grand.
Her warm, gentle, caring heart,
Sure knows how to understand.

For my good friend, Mary Anne,
Whose heart is warm and gentle,
