I stand against the bar
Where I'm collecting all our dust
Our goodbye's long forgotten
But remain here I must

Strumming at the chords
Of my over-aged heart
You'll find me beneath the orange palm tree's
Where you said I looked smart
Thomas Alan Jul 2016
You say that I should quit
but I just like the smoke,
because it clouds my vision
and it's because of you I choke.

I heave through every breath
and you'll never say it's you,
because it's not my lungs;
it's that my heart is breaking too.
Thomas Alan Jul 2016
I met you at one
when you poured me some wine.
You followed me to bed
and you made yourself mine.

A hand placed on your knee,
ran a shiver up your spine.
You're doing over a hundred,
but you can't go back in time.
Thomas Alan Jul 2016
If I gave you my tears
Would it prove that I cared?
If I made you some rivers
Would all be declared?
Thomas Alan Jul 2016
coiled there beneath a smile
draped in the betrayal of white wine
beneath the blanket of another lover
that's where you'll find what is mine

if i had poured a glass of red
perhaps i'd not have shared my bed
so 3 more years can hit the clock
and we can watch it
tick
tick
tock
Thomas Alan Jun 2016
Shadows fall from my brow-bone
Leaving me misaligned
If I leave in the morning
Then it's you left behind

You place a kiss on my forehead
It will be there for a minute
Until I suddenly awaken
And I slowly dilute
Thomas Alan Jun 2016
My hand on your lap
when I said I was tired
So you tell me you've changed
but you see now I'm wired

If you had the clocks
you tell me you got the hands wrong
But I'm giving you chills
and you've waited so long

I worry that I have changed
that I'm not the same now
Because I became so much more
than you raising an eyebrow
