At work
today
you reduced

to nervous
laughter
by driving
up
out the
blue
as a
surprise.

Seagulls fly over me.
Sticky sand rubs against my toes.

I see ice-cream nearby.
This place is paradise or at least
the closest I've come to it.
I prayed a silent prayer:
"Please God, I never wanna leave

I always leave a piece
of my heart along the shore.

Under the pines
I am a new man.
Smelling pine needles
above,
rubbing soil
between my toes,
counting pine cones
as they fall,
and feeling insects
crawl all over everything.  
I am not quite myself  
under the pines,
I am fully
alive.

Early this
morning
I stood
under
the rising
sun
absorbing it's
light.

After work I
walked
all the way
home
under this sultry
sun,
so you wouldn't
have
to pick me
up.

I can't feel
happy
all of the
time,
but I can
focus
on being positive
for
as long as
possible.

Today my
mom
picked me
up
from the
store
and noticed
that
I was
frowning;

sometimes I
can't
tell how
I'm
feeling until
someone
else points
it
out to
me.

I never saw my redhill dawn,
Now we break in song,
For once I was trapped to long,
Joyfully, I found a home,
Nothing good is set in stone,
Burning coals which was my tears,
Radiate colder than my fears,

I only talked to

when I needed a
friend,
and now I'm so

my frustrations

someone
to vent

Today I went
shopping
at the make-up
counter
all alone so
nerve-racking.

Sometimes when I
need some fresh air I take walks
through my neighborhood.

I was in the grocery store today,
walking down an aisle with a buggy,
when I got this feeling:
I've been here before,
and I'll be here again soon.
Life is predictable,
we try to add flavor to our lives,
but we always end up back in
the checkout line at Walmart,
buying groceries.
Low prices drag us by our feet
through the door,
down aisles,
and over shelves.
It's not the boredom that bothers me,
it's meaninglessness.
How we can buy the same things
over and over again,
and it doesn't add up to anything,
it will go in the garbage at some point;
so why do we do it?

I keep
having
a recurring
dream
of traveling
far
away with
my
friends to
vacation
by the
beach,

I've now
developed
an acute
wanderlust.

They don't warn you
when you become
a writer
of the crippling
anxiety
that comes with
waiting for success  
to strike.
Sometimes I look back
and wonder how
I've gotten this far.

I want to lie down
in a hot bath and let the
water soothe my soul.

Loneliness is
not something
we overcome.

It's an aspect
of the human
experience
that we must
endure
till the bitter
end.

For as long as
there are separate
beings
apart from you,
so is the possibility
of feeling all
alone.

I can't
carry
the weight
of
all the
blame
upon my
shoulders,
it was
both
of our
mistake,
so you've
also
got to
bare
it with
me.

As we
strolled
through the
rain
I didn't
mind
getting wet
because
you got
soaked
right alongside
me.

The next time a
tornado
blows past our house
I'm
taking you with me
into
the bathroom to stay
safe
from the giant swirling
vortex;

we won't get swept
away.

What is art?
There is no clear answer
to that question.
You know when
art appears,
something deep down
in your gut
tells you it's
real.

Even if we
aren't
certain where we're
going
I don't feel
lost
when I'm beside
you.

My Mom
got in bed
with my Dad
and told him
to move over,
but he didn't
budge,
so she said,
"You're not
making room
for Aaron."
My Dad replied,
"You just named
him."
That's how I
was named.

How many times
am
I going to
keep
making the same
mistakes
without learning my
lessons?

I wanted to
fall
in love with
you,
but now that
you're
gone I never
will.
