Cotton ***** replacing eyeballs,
light bulb socket eye sockets
glimpsing a contrast computer screen under sullen light;
small talk in the room behind me.

They're really getting into it
three quarters over the line between
I really don't know
and I really don't care.

One foot constraining the other end of reality.

And it's like everyone is shaven down
by their own empty hours
into glazen-eyed laughter.

Forward progress into
counting dirt
in a hole.

They say you're an innocent girl
but those nicotine stained fingers
and those long-sleeve shirts in the Summer
tell a different story.

The tears rolled down your china doll face
as the dust drifted through a sliver of light
that came flickering from that old neon sign across the street.
The pastel wallpaper, peeling away from the walls
showing nothing but the rotting wood of a dilapidated building.
The smell of mildew wafting from the bathroom leaving you nothing to
look forward to except the next drip from the leaky faucet.
How had your life come to this?
All of those teenage dreams.
All those fantasies of love and adventurous living.
Those notions of being an artist and revolutionary.
Nothing but the taste of bitter coffee and broken cigarettes lingers
at every meal.
A love gone sour.
Your beauty far exceeding conventional standards.
That perfect 10.
Wasted here in a dingy motel.
Longing for that one last kiss.
Waiting for him to make you feel young again.
As you yourself become part of this place,
realizing that you are decaying just the same.
Chasing seagulls shadows
As the breeze slithered through my hair
It was love at first sight
Sunsets tracing rainbows on the murky waters
The sea truly is a mystery
But the love I feel is even more of a mystery
I can still hear the roaring of the surf
Tides coming in slowly
Full moon tonight
Softer breeze and a lot less noise
No children laugh
Parents yelling to stay away from the jellyfish
Just silence
The perfect love affair
It was love at first sight
When the sea breeze kissed me
The salty water wrapped its arms around me
The sun setting fire to Pacific blue water
Moonlight chasing dolphins as they fly through the air
Stars reflecting off the rippling water
It was truly a love affair set in motion at first sight
Now I dare you to fall in love
Surprise!!! This was influenced by talking about an obsession with the ocean with Natasha Daley
Lying in my plastic bed
Thinking how things weren't so cool to me
My baby likes to shoot pool
I like lying naked in my bedroom
Tying on that dinosaur tonight
It used to be so cool
But now I've got that need(le)
That I can't shake
And I can't breathe
They take it away
But I want more and more
One day I'm gunna lose the war
You are my gravity in these weightless times
The lightest touch of breath
Expelled from your lungs
Turns my heart into a quivering mess
Without you I would surely float away with the wind
Becoming as scattered as the burning maples leaves

What a ghastly ordeal of tangles
This love affair of mine
