Love of a Dove
Sonia Breuch Apr 2015
if a fox loves a dove
but the dove shows no love
what will become

for the dove flies away
with young fox left to say
what have i done

poor fox left forlorn
alone, bitter with scorn
longing for the love of a dove

the ego
Sonia Breuch Oct 2015
honey i love you but i just can’t smile when you’re around
your vibe is bringing me down
it’s hard to grin while being haunted by the Grim
baby, i just gotta leave town
and does it matter if i keep my mouth shut
when i want to be screaming from the highest roof tops
so,
i hope you're satisfied
i can only whisper
for now
i am
only a whisper
just color on the wall

please do me a favor and quit while you’re ahead
your vibe is bringing me down
for the devil inside gives us room to hide
darling, let me come home
and the rage will subside eventually
just like everything, to nothing

“Why me over him though, i don’t understand, he really loved you and you still came back to me”
“Simply”, I replied, “I’d rather be a toy than a punching bag, for when toys get cast aside the greatest damage that they must endure is neglect. Punching bags, however, get hit time after time until they burst at the seams and can never be hit again. They get tossed aside eventually as well, of course. But plenty of people use old toys, yet you never see someone recycle an old  punching bag?”

briar rose
Sonia Breuch Apr 2015
Sweet briar rose asleep in her lush bed
has yet to awaken
too much time alone in her head

does she dream of the prince to come
dancing with him
to the rhythmic beat of the drum

Maybe she's trapped in a dreaded nightmare
haunted and dying
with no escape from despair

Young sleeping beauty under a spell
she looks so peaceful
when she will wake i cannot tell
prompt: write about your favorite fairy tale

a future without you
Sonia Breuch May 2015
i could see a future without you
but it’s truly grim
full of sleepless nights
hopeless mornings
and swollen memories

in this haunted future
that i pray i never see
you think for a second or two
about me
about the smudge in your memory

my darling
if you even remember my name
you’ll never speak it aloud
for we ended not as one of those things
one wants to talk about

the dream we once dreamt
of a home by the sea
sunny porches and iced tea
lost in the grey blue waves
of our forgotten responsibility

i sleep alone even if another
lays by my side
their hands between my thighs
their lips will be yours in my dreams
for i will always be yours

hello
Sonia Breuch Apr 2015
Say hello to the man asleep on the park bench
you’ve always noticed his jaw clench
when he is awake and nobody says hello

Say hello to the neighbor next door
you’ve heard he tells tales of war are gore
find out by saying hello

Say hello to your mother perhaps
you’ve missed her since father’s collapse
healing begins with hello

I’ll say hello to you
then it’s your choice what to do
Hello, hello, hello

only yours

only loved when wanted
only wanted when needed
only needed when useful
only useful when remembered
only remembered after being forgotten
