I see the sun come over the edge
and past the valley threw
sun growing mother earth
it was only then i thought of you
but woman i am a man of the wind
so do not go looking over your shoulder
for before I past you by
and now you just get older.

WORD CHOWDER
The wings of time are swift and relentless
They summon the winds of change like a sudden storm
That leaves nothing but memories in their wake
It is much too soon that we see how things are no longer what they used to be

I've been lying in bed for fourteen hours
Sick again & I can feel my organs shifting
tucked underneath my aching bones
You tucked me in & kissed my forehead
Your lips blistered on the spot
Skins so hot, you'd swear my skull is melting
I've been doing better all wrapped up in
your blue sheets- counting all of the gentle spaces
between your veins that I've yet to fall in
Your hands tower over my fingertips
at your knuckles & you think it's funny
when I stand on the tips of my toes to
reach your smile
I'm looking at the tired skin that lays over
the back of your neck through those
one inch clear plugs in your ear lobes
And tracing every inch of your inked calves
With the front of my inked feet
The sun is warm as it swallows your bedroom
through the pretty little window in your ceiling
I'd surrender every record I ever bought
just to have the strength to climb out;
To taste some clean air today
Well, thank god for your butterscotch eyes
The only scenery I could fall into & float away

Edgar Allan Poe
It was many and many a year ago,
  In a kingdom by the sea,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
  By the name of ANNABEL LEE;
And this maiden she lived with no other thought
  Than to love and be loved by me.

I was a child and she was a child,
  In this kingdom by the sea:
But we loved with a love that was more than love—
  I and my ANNABEL LEE;
With a love that the winged seraphs of heaven
  Coveted her and me.

And this was the reason that, long ago,
  In this kingdom by the sea,
A wind blew out of a cloud, chilling
  My beautiful ANNABEL LEE;
So that her highborn kinsmen came
  And bore her away from me,
To shut her up in a sepulchre
  In this kingdom by the sea.

The angels, not half so happy in heaven,
  Went envying her and me—
Yes!—that was the reason (as all men know,
  In this kingdom by the sea)
That the wind came out of the cloud by night,
  Chilling and killing my ANNABEL LEE.

But our love it was stronger by far than the love
  Of those who were older than we—
  Of many far wiser than we—
And neither the angels in heaven above,
  Nor the demons down under the sea,
Can ever dissever my soul from the soul
  Of the beautiful ANNABEL LEE.

For the moon never beams without bringing me dreams
  Of the beautiful ANNABEL LEE;
And the stars never rise but I see the bright eyes
  Of the beautiful ANNABEL LEE;
And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the side
Of my darling, my darling, my life and my bride,
  In her sepulchre there by the sea—
  In her tomb by the side of the sea.
Weathervanes with harmonically
tuned brains, took up the call to Step Lively.

Each one ecking, drop by drop,
To feed you silliness, to lighten your soul.

Wakey, wakey
Eat well
It's your Daddy, I mean attorney
You're really been being very bad.

If you insist, I will.
Learn obedience
or patience or something
in between,

a kernal of obedience?
I'll never promise that,
in order to give it to freely.
I was afraid to let you in.

They were menacing,
stamping us into tiny little molds.
Insistent that we are,
what they think we are.

Did they convince you
that I'd gone off and left you?

No, changing that would require
quantum amounts of convincing.
Was not mistaken that it was you,
just attacked by encroaching apiculture

That is how it felt,
How it feels, but subtler now.*
First course correction will be
the sliver of a melody,

Spreading like a depth charge.
