There she is-
see her?
She’s walking this way-
To me?
I don’t know,
What do I say?

She beautiful and ****…
Shh!  Bite your tongue!
She heard you, you fool!
Now here she comes.

Keep your cool.
Don’t mess around.
Look right at her
and tell her you’ve found
the most precious jewel,
a priceless treasure,
a woman with beauty
beyond all measure

Do it now, before she goes by
(My god, I can’t even look her straight in the eye).
She’s closer now-
Do you think she knows?
I don’t know…
…but there she goes.
All too often this happens to one who spends his life in a shell...
Blankets cannot hold her
Her mind within her head
Sheets can’t keep her thoughts asleep
Can’t keep her in her bed
                She said
“I’ll sleep tonight, I promise,”
But sleep just slips away
Slides and glides from tired eyes
Dark circles that cheap makeup hides
Restless here
                —She’s tossing—
Restless fear
                —She’s falling—
Not asleep, just in too deep
In swirling thoughts, anxieties
“There’s no time to rest,”
She says
“It’s hard to be the best,”
She says
The best at what?
She wonders, dim
The best are gorgeous, fine and slim
Not fleshy with insomnia
With dreams that bring cold sweat
Two hours of the night consumed
                Nightmares she won’t forget
“Don’t let it get to you,”
She says
But what she sees as true
Will always, always make it through
Through her mind, straight to her head
She isn’t safe inside her bed
Dangling by her restless thread
Awake but far too tired, still
Repose is not an option here
Fatigue is but a minor flaw
And time is just her greatest fear
Chronophobic pillow fights
Erupt when she turns out the lights
Between her worries and will to sleep
“I just can’t win,”
                She mutters, soft
It’s hard to hold the world aloft
To play at night with dynamite
Awake while bed bugs surely bite
Written 4/9/08
With my back pressed firmly against the wall
I heard a whisper amidst the winds
It sounded enticing, but something was wrong
The words were jumbled and the tone was bumbled
as they ran through the grass, the notes stumbled
and tumbled,
from trees as they fell with the rustling leaves
the bustling breeze
the hustling freeze, stuck on off toned keys
singing, bleeding, screaming
until I was begging please, please
For voice of the ****** from it's own hoise
and became nothing but noise
that struggled to find poise against my stonewall soul
I watched something simple go
deep within your soul
to the place where the seeds of fairness grow
you kneeled upon the ground
as I gazed with eyes of stone
your fingers dug the earth,
watching with utter curiosity
as you counted the seeds you stole
All's fair in love 'n war, or so I am told
But I just watched you plant these seeds
And I have seen where they have been sown
You made it seem to the outside world
that these seeds were randomly strewn
As if a wind had blown across the plane
and had blown these seeds away
As if hungry birds returning to their nests
and had spilled some along the way
But I know
Because I saw where they were placed
cleverly paced, precisely spaced
interlaced
yet you are unfazed
and I discovered why
for your 'kindness' isn't kind
but is just bread crumbs to be retraced
Hanzel and Gretel's trail of bad taste
All so you can point back one day
and rub it in someones face
But I'll keep your secret to myself
dark and all alone
because if I show this to someone else
I'll just be called paranoid and a crone
Just know that one day when your face is smiling
and your picture being shown
I'll make sure that you can see what I hold deep inside
by reciting this little poem

I watched something simple go
deep within your soul
to the place where the seeds of fairness grow
And I saw what you stole

Oh us silly girls,
Always dancing around.
Oh us silly girls,
Wearing our crowns.
Oh us silly girls,
Writing love poems.
Oh us silly girls,
Wanting to grow up.
Oh us silly girls,
Living through dreams.
Oh us silly girls,
Hemming the seams.
Oh us silly girls,
Falling in love.
Oh us girls,
How we need our love.
BANG went the thunder,
As I poured out my fears.
Down came the rain,
As I poured out my tears.

And man, did it hail,
When I poured out my heart.
Guess I’d held that back,
Right from the start.

I felt the sand storm,
On the empty desert plain,
And cringed when it hit me,
When I poured out my pain.

I shook as the wind howled,
When I lost all control.
But it was incredibly silent,
When I poured out my soul.

The storm of emotions,
Wilder each time.
Tears on my heart strings,
Invading what’s mine.

Then calm settles in,
I relax unrestrained.
To quiet, to peaceful…
Then the storm comes again.
