The star had shone all night with zest,
And now it’s time for it to rest,
For it is early morn,
Another day is born,
The tired star has done its best.

He was walking his dog in the park that day,
And paused by the fountain where the pigeons play,
There he fell and then vanished without a trace,
Leaving his dog to bark at his empty space.

The police searched all over for him in vain,
His family was drowned in sorrow and pain,
No one knew exactly what happened to him,
The chances of finding him were pretty slim.

After seven years all hope began to fade,
For everyone thought that he was really dead,
Suddenly he appeared at the place he fell,
Everyone was overjoyed he looked so well.

They were dismayed he couldn’t explain a thing,
He’d no memory at all of anything,
But one day he vanished once more in the rain,
And then this time he never came back again.
Every year hundreds of thousands of people all over the world disappear. Only a small percentage of them are found. This poem is partly factual and partly fiction with a slight accent on horror

I’m really extremely sad,
And with me I’m also mad,
I made you in my image.
Thinking you’d be free and sage,
But somewhere along the line,
Things did turn out not so fine,
You seem evil through and through,
That’s not how I did make you,
Heed my warning one and all,
You are heading for a fall.

She was on her broom since noon,
Flying all over the sky,
And I saw her outline in the moon,
As I was strolling by.

Extreme

We can understand
Darkness and light
Two such extremes
Black challenges white

Compromise

We despair, we hope
We ****, we pray
To compromise
Think in colour grey
there are always two sides to everything

I will travel the paths alone,
Further, far away from home,
To quench a thirst quite unknown,
Searching for answers beyond,
I will face the storms and tides,
Of this earthly life alone,
For no one can understand,
What my destiny has sown.

Little Monkey was thoughtful that day,
And he had very little to say,
For he was feeling rather crabby,
Why many humans are unhappy;

Why do many constantly complain,
As though they were in perpetual pain?

Though it seems they have so many things,
They keep hoping for more wealth that brings,
Ultimate happiness till they die,
Money, more money, their daily cry!
When many others less fortunate,
Have accepted their ultimate fate,
And they make do with their daily lot,
Thanking the good lord for what they've got;

So he concluded true happiness -
Is not having a mountain of wealth,
But having good friends, real love and health.

Then he saw some peanuts on the ground,
And was delighted with what he'd found.
This is one of my Little Monkey series of philosophical and satirical poems. a reflection of the human world

I walked the cold and lonely deck,
As we sailed on the midnight sea,
All was darkness for miles around,
As far as my eyes could see.

A few stars glittered in the sky,
There was no moon, just stars in sight,
But I saw a distant lighthouse,
Flashing somewhere to my right.

My thoughts did dwell for long on us,
I wondered how our lives would be,
If we lived our years together,
Instead of you with you,
And I with me.

Each one of us is just a tiny speck,
A grain of sand upon an endless beach,
Battling with problems from an angry sea,
And living together seems out of reach.

Every day we work and move in numbers,
Inside we are always living alone,
Outwards there are clocks and fancy watches,
But inwards, we live in a timeless zone.

Now though each of us is a tiny speck,
A grain of sand upon a friendless beach,
With reason, patience and an open mind,
Togetherness  is within our reach.

Tomorrow will be another day.

“Two late” are two fateful words,
Dreadful to the eyes and ears,
For these little simple words,
Erase smiles and start the tears.

When the day is finally through,
And there is little else to do,
I shall watch the sun go down,
And colours lighting up the town.

Red, green, yellow, white and blue,
Neon and oil and candles too,
On streets, in parks and houses all,
When night makes its gentle call.

Then I will off to please my mind,
In a quiet place that I can find,
With drink in hand to sit me down,
And sip the colours of the town.
colours are always fascinating

The distant sky was gray
Above me the sun was weakly shining
Weather prediction was a wet day
Heavy rain was surely coming
I see the gray wall drawing nearer
And the landscape quickly turning blur
While the sound of rain was gettiing clearer
The storm is almost here

True love is the noblest feeling,
that the mystic self can attain,
For it is completely blind
to criticism or judgement,
And hate, revenge and self pity
it can easily restrain,
Like the dog's undying love
for its master good or bad,
Or the mother's unrestricted love
for her baby happy or sad;

True love is mentally abstract
with no physical connection,
And cannot be confused
with ***, lust and egoism,
For it is mated with intuition,
kindness and understanding,
And fused with loyalty
and human compassion,
Sustaining a permanent
fondness and affection;

"Love" as it is widely used,
is too shallow and common,
and is not really love at all,
Because true love for many people,
is something they cannot recall.
Is love confusing? Love and lust

An hour or less of daylight remains,
then soft and brilliant colours paint the sky,
in pastel shades, oil and water colour hues
and around not a single lonesome cry

From the very moment we are born,
Until the time that we shall be gone,
Obliged are we to follow the pace,
Of Good versus Evil in their race.
So we came and saw the signs of light,
Growing up, we learnt of day and night,
Suppressing the good in us, we’ll find,
Evil takes us in the twilight mind.
Shaun Yee Jan 2021
Setting sun and dwindling daylight¸
celestial colours fading fast,
the horizon a delightful sight,
with the growing greyness,
the beauty only minutes will last;
Mysticism mopes the air, and
tinges of sadness and happiness
everywhere, and homeliness,
while seemingly serene,
morphing with memories,
sentiments and thoughts,
rend a numbing nostalgia of sorts;
Thus will twilight gradually present
the grimly gentle night’s descent

For every coin that has a head,
Turn it round it will have a tail,
Every positive thought that exists,
A negative will make it fail;
For every attack you can devise,
The enemy can plan a defence,
And there will always be two sides,
For each and every sentence;
Just like nothing is forever black,
Nothing is always white, no way,
So let us think with moderation,
So that we can appreciate the gray.
Shaun Yee Jun 2022
It’s easy to just follow and just do,
Every action, everything without a clue
As to the how things work, as to the why,
Using brains occasionally by and by.

From here misunderstandings will start,
When from reason we carelessly depart,
Anger, jealousy, ill-feelings will abound,
We get checkmated at every single round.

Lots of patience we should not abuse,
Thinking, reasoning well, we must always use,
For no matter how we call its normal name,
Really understanding has always been the game.
the world needs more understanding and less egoism

I ask of you a hundred questions,
Though it’s not for me to pry,
For there are a hundred answers,
I have to know just where they lie.

There are so many qualities of you,
Of which I feel I’m blind,
For you so deeply do I care,
I need to peer into your mind.

So forgive me if of you I ask,
When and where and what and why,
‘Cos when I have the answers all,
No longer do I have to sigh.

Many things I wanted to do,
I had no means to see them through,
My many years went rushing by,
Quicker than birds up in the sky,
So some dreams were lost on the way,
Never did see the light of day,
Now I've settled with what I've got,
Still to finish what I did not.

Little Monkey was just not happy
With worldly things that were happening,
So he questioned all the monkey chiefs,
What would be the world's final ending?

It would seem that from earliest days,
When History was carved in black and white,
Evil always seemed to have the edge,
Darkness clouding Goodness from its light.

Is there really a Super Being,
With worldly affairs He oversees?
Or are all human prayers to Him,
Just a bunch of hopeless fantasies?

All the Monkey Chiefs sat down to think,
What convincing answer they could give,
These leaders have always prayed in vain,
Goodness hasn't triumphed with blind belief.

History seems to clearly show,
Mankind does not want to know,
How to live in peace with grace,
That's not for the human race

Humans like to show their might,
Always looking for a fight,
So kindness is for the weak,
And niceties are for the meek

They're not happy all is well,
In wartime more arms they sell,
Spreading love we must not heed,
Making war is what we need

If God did make Earth and Man
He must have erred somewhere then

We cannot always expect others
to think or do like how we would do,
for what 's correct thinking for oneself
may not be the same for others too.

Often we're puzzled why a person,
Has wrong thoughts or does a certain act,
but then, the behaviour that is wrong,
for whom is it really incorrect?

Our thinking is the total sum,
Everything that we have ever learnt,
but not all people learn the same things,
so some souls survive while some get burnt.

Be tolerant of variations.
Be thoughtful and kind to one and all,
So  we don't overstress ourselves,
Until we hear our final call.

I watched a lovely cloud,
drifting merrily on,
small, cotton white was he,
as though he was just born;
Then, of all the horrors,
a ******* cloud appeared,
this ugly ate my friend,
which promptly disappeared!
Poor Whitey was now gone,
Blacky finished my friend
whom I knew just did not
deserve that brutal end;
So why must beauty end?
Why cannot it endure?
Must beauty always fade,
even when it’s pure?
Shaun Yee Feb 2022
Looking upwards one sunny day,
I saw white clouds in the sky,
They were bright and cotton soft,
Drifting slowly, just passing by.

The clouds were really graceful,
Changing slightly here and there,
I found them ever so peaceful,
As they sailed along without a care.

Their beauty made me think of you,
I wondered if you were serene,
As the clouds that were gliding by,
My love, I wondered how you’ve been.

Hey hey hey, I keep running forward,
But it’s getting me nowhere,
I’m running in this revolving cage,
Not stopping nor here nor there

I’m really spinning this cage myself,
And it’s truly so much fun,
So until it’s time for me to stop,
I’ll just run and run and run.

when the wind came by
so it would catch it

listen to it until
you can hear your name
for that will be me

Cold crisp air, wet winter snow,
Whiteness sits on leaves and trees,
In fields, gardens, country sides,
No birds, butterflies or bees;

Snowflakes change to crunchy ice,
Evanescence everywhere,
Nature waved its wondrous wand,
With an awesome actor's flair.

The world would be a drab place,
Without our gentler ***,
They fill our lives with colours,
and  beauty without pretext.

And their feline behaviour,
Subtle, enticing and coy,
Can turn a so-called macho man,
Into an obedient boy.

Clothes, make-up, yearly fashions,
Blend with art, flowers and rainbows,
They subdue the minds and senses,
Like pleasant April showers.

Men have remained with male colours,
Mainly blue, brown, grey and black,
For too many colours shift them,
On to the feminine track.

So the world is more colourful,
With our lovely gentler ***,
And men may also be thankful,
Women have put on them the hex.
poem for women's day!
