I have no lingering attachments
To my broken wings
Or my shattered heart
For it, I carry no such things

From scratch of feather and bone
I’m building my wings anew
Of self worth and sunlight
And no memories of you

I'm forging a new heart
Of crystal tears and starlight
Shining, so it cannot be hidden
Even by the darkest night

And when the time is right
I’ll finally be free
So not even barbed-wire and lace
And hold me to thee.
500 years alone
Born out of ashes
To die in flames
Body covered in gashes
From years of abuse
Times are not what they used to be
Out in they open
A rare sight to see
Clothed in red and gold
And framed in fire
An icon of hope
And ones hearts desire
A time for renewal
To be reborn
Time does things to one
Tired and worn
One last sad song
A nest of incense and sticks
Out of the fires cold burnt ashes
Revived is the Phoenix
Millions of pieces
Catch the bright sunshine
Like a broken mirror
Whole once upon a time.
Casting light fairies
On the dark walls
Intermittent rainbows
Between where they fall.
So many reflections
Of love, life and light
Lying on the floor
Because I lost the fight.
My broken heart
In pieces so small
It’s hard to believe
They once fit together at all,
But morning still comes
With a rising sun
Piecing my heart
Together, one by one.
Crystal drops fall from golden eyes
So sad to see one so beautiful cry
Clipped wings and a broken heart
Whole body and soul torn apart

To fall asleep and never wake
To forget the pain ones path can make
Is this the true happiness one does seek
Or just a way our for one so weak

Never to see another sun rise and fall
To forget the memories in time one and all
To feel nothing for ever more
To win the battle by losing the war

To lose the experience of real
Just to forget how to feel
Sorrow and joy die by the sword
As they are sacrificed to their lord

And now as I close my eyes
Tears pull through for one last cry
As I lay myself down folded in torn wings
My heart, its death song begins to sing
Once upon a time,
In the tallest tower,
Protected by dragons,
Waiting for the hour.
Hidden by high walls,
Bristles and thorn rose.
Dark and distant places
Filled with woes.
Poison kisses,
Kidnapped by a beast,
Stolen voices,
And forced deadly sleep.
A princess has many walls,
Some only of the mind.
A prince needs to scale them all,
To get a girl, one of a kind.
To deserve her at her best
Is to handle her at her worse.
Climb the walls,
And break the curse.
Fight dragons with swords
And woes with laughter,
To find the untouchable princess,
And live happily ever after.
