If a rose is a rose
Called by any other name
Is it still a rose, if a stem is all that remains?

It still has thorns

I fell in love with a fake moon
The sun was always in view
But I was swept up in tides
That were man-made

Not of the gods
Not of the inner voice I hear
That I know belongs to spirits

I fell in love with a projection
Of my favorite constellation
I believed in it so much
I forgot about the night sky

Where the answers are written in stars
And if you know how to listen
You can hear them

I fell in love with a lightbulb
I became a flower in a green house
And what I was reaching for
Wasn't the sun

I fell in love with a fake moon

I'm one of very few people I know
Who enjoys a rainy day
But my least favorite night
Is one where I can't see the stars

And these clouds
They cover over everything

I wouldn't even be able to tell you the moon is new

I want to fall in love
With a rainy day woman

Life is one
Big
Huge
Gigantic
Humongous
                      .....
Diverse
Fantastically perverse metaphor

For what happens after you die

So make sure to be happy while you have a choice in the matter

A million years
A million miles of netherworld
A million tears
A million stars I'll never hold

And I still can't stop loving you

A million sunsets
A million waning moons
A million scars
A million self inflicted wounds

And I still can't stop loving you

If my poetry
           Can achieve
                        What I want
It will be
A legal way
For you to get
High

Who wants to follow me
Into oblivion?
Who believes when I say
Its the only way
To ever be truly free?

Not constrained by what we perceive
The money we need to live
The love we need to be happy

Who wants to follow me
Over the event horizon?
We can bring our light
Into the blackest hole

I see the world
So differently
I tried to paint a Picasso
And it ended up looking like a Rembrandt

The more distorted I try to paint reality

She didn't fall in love with me
But with the song I sing
My life is a prime example
Of how talent and creativity
Don't matter without ambition
She fell in love with me

When I don't want to smile
And I don't want to laugh
I still sing a song a lover understands

Because all of my greatest fears came true

Because there is nothing left
