"I loved you once",
He said out loud,
As though she could hear him.

Unfortunately, though
She was a thousand miles away
At all times.
Eventually those miles turned
To light years
With neither knowing what happened.

Years later, she found herself
Thinking about him.
"I loved him once"
Was all she thought
As life went on.

A memory in the wind.
Fleeting.

You're like a drug
Racing through my veins
I've tried to replace you
With ******, *******
They're not the same

Your side effects
They don't matter
Each inch of my heart you shatter
The violence and the abuse
Nothing will stop me
I'm addicted to you

I need a fix
The touch of your lips
Your kiss

Like a blanket
I wrap myself in your love
My drug
Unstable, emotional, self-destructive
I'm hooked.

Your heart and mine
Twisted, sharp, dangerous
Entwined.

Twisted tail of me and you
Been so long and felt so true
But I hug my feelings and you guard yours
All I wanted was your stuff in my drawers
But you want to be free
And who am I to plea?
So now you be you
And I'll be me

Beat like wings and you will take flight
Climb into the clouds to reach great height
Skip across the lilies before your weight reflects
Return to the heart for life’s love effects

Flutter like butterflies and you will be free
Flow into the river to reach the blue sea
Dash across the plain before you stop to admire
Return to the heart for love’s most beautiful fire

Moisten like the dew and you will replenish
Drop into the canyon to echo the finish
Linger in the valley before you miss the silence
Return to the heart for love’s obvious hints

Click like two stones and you will be heard
Creep into the wild to admire the littlest bird
Rush into the waterfall before the moment passes
Return to the heart for love’s inevitable relapses

Wrinkle like the skin and you will pass time
Disappear into thin air to refresh a lost rhyme
Piece into the puzzle before you lose your way
Return to the heart for love’s final say

I want mountains of dirt,
and hills of stones
and mounds of knowledge
in books, great tomes

I want patience (for you)
- and ease of speech

I want thoughts to chew
I want students to teach

I want people that know
- and arms that reach

I want oceans of water
and seas of colour
and rivers of time
carving valleys with fervour

I want nothing below
I want nothing above

I want hope, and grace,
but I’ll settle for love.

we are so
different
we come from
completely different
places
we have
very different
views
on many
different
things
so,
where does
the love
come from
it's
simply
heart
and
soul

Out
I have gone out, a cold candle.
Dancing, darting, flickering radiance,
flighty shadows fade back into the night,
but their memory is still on these walls
if you reach out and
touch them.

I have felt the inhale before the exhale, but
neither as strongly as the pause in between.
Filled with more potential than any dream you’ve ever had,
yet somehow ending the same. Always.

I have surrendered to your breath;
darkness falls.
