All along,
there have been tiny whispers.
Between dissonance and chaos
they sing to us
the quietest of songs.

Come,
But be silent
You are already speaking.
Listen,
But with your eyes
I’m speaking too.
In the quiet space
Between spaces
Our colors will have a dialogue

Light fell in love with Dark,
  then he was no more
She tried to touch him softly,
her rays cascading upon the floor
But every time she reached for him,
  she found she was alone
And only through the distance,
could dark, her love, be known.

Dark fell in love with Light,
for things unknown only she could see
He longed for her evermore,
but where she was he could not be
Every time she reached for him,
there was naught he could do but to retreat
And in his blind loneliness mourn,
that light, his love, he could never meet.

I depart of the demons of life,
To these words that keep me safe,
I dream and dream then fly,
Far and deeply touch the sky,
I grab the moon and the stars,
I travel the universe and Mars,
Away, from what you believe,
In the vast space, I find peace,
Leisure, relief, silence and ease,
Words keep me away of life,
They've always kept me alive.

The free bird leaps
on the back of the wind
and floats downstream
till the current ends
and dips his wings
in the orange sun rays
and dares to claim the sky.

But a bird that stalks
down his narrow cage
can seldom see through
his bars of rage
his wings are clipped and
his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing.

The caged bird sings
with fearful trill
of the things unknown
but longed for still
and his tune is heard
on the distant hill for the caged bird
sings of freedom

The free bird thinks of another breeze
and the trade winds soft through the sighing trees
and the fat worms waiting on a dawn-bright lawn
and he names the sky his own.

But a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams
his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream
his wings are clipped and his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing

The caged bird sings
with a fearful trill
of things unknown
but longed for still
and his tune is heard
on the distant hill
for the caged bird
sings of freedom.

Fat
I have this thing, you see
I'm overweight
In this big body
It cripples me from doing the things I enjoy
Like swimming
Like fashion
Like running
Like the many things I imagine
Going to the beach
Having hot ***
Time just passes by
And I sit here with regret
I haven't spent my almost 22 years
Doing things I enjoy
Instead
I've been fearful
Scared of judgment
Scared of wandering eyes
Don't look at me
What you see are lies
I wish my body
Reflected how I am
On the inside
That's all that matters, right?
Not really
That's another lie
My weight cripples me
And I let it
I need someone to believe in me
So I can shed it
Is anybody out there?
Do you even care?
Perhaps I'll be fat forever

inspired by the performances of Maxine Pearce & Nico Mirallegro in BBC1's The Village,
this is from the point of view of a mother to a son who has to go to war*

01.20am, 30/4/13

Wherever life may send you
However far away
May light beings befriend you
Angels, to light your way

Four angels for protection
To guard the path ahead
Three more for introspection
To drive out fear and dread

May archangels placate you
And sanctify your dreams
May love illuminate you
However dark life seems.

Wingbeating high above you
To guide you on your way
The angels and I love you
A little more each day.
