If I just knew
What the hell I'm supposed to do
I would make my world a small garden
Decorated with diverse flowers
Offering me emotional breeze
Inspiring mental bliss
But the roll of dice
Keeps me wandering the maze of Life
Not knowing what to expect
At the next turn or trail
Just moving about the pathway of Fate
With candles of intuitive faith
Hoping for the best
Pondering over the approaching test
Would I fail or would I pass
If I fail should I give up
To spite my lot
If I pass should I go on to face
Another stream of darkness
The ball is not in my court, it never was
Such is the story of my eyes
Blinded by the rays of mysterious laws
By the mask of unrelenting dawns
Every day, every hour, every moment
I'm faced with new beginnings
That cancel out the layout of my winnings
This is the road I must travel
And encounter sporadic marvel
That entices me to stick to the journey
At times I wonder
Is it better to know or to not know
The answer eludes me
Since I cannot change what is running
Through the branches of my leaves
I shall be content
With the ramification of my weaves.
Employ science,
the way a poet
employs words.

Employ belief,
the way a
mathematician
employs arithmetic.

Or, be the eye
that sees, and be
employed by death,
the way life is
employed by time.

someone once asked me,
moon or stars?
and i didn’t know
what to say
i laughed it off,
said something like
depends on the day

but i kept thinking
long after they forgot,
stared at ceilings
my chest in a knot
and long closed doors
trying to name
what moved me more

the steady pull
of a silver moon,
or how stars burn
and disappear to soon

and then it hit me
something softer,
yet brighter than stars,
something that pulls more gently,
but deeper than moonlit scars

i’ve gotten an answer

and so now,
if anyone asks,
moon or stars?
i’d say your eyes
this is from a quote on twitter. "moon or stars? your eyes"
it just felt really cute and i wanted to make a poem around it
What others regard
as absurd
I don't reject-
it has some
hidden content
that I can extract
which others
do not detect -
haven't we heard
of the folly of the wise
who sometimes commit
stupid mistakes?

And thus
I'm open-minded
in slicing
the inside
of what others
hold as absurd
and lift the veil
hopefully
some meaning
to unearth.
Did you hear about
The mafia boss
With a PhD in quantum mechanics?
He made them an offer they couldn't understand.
Do you walk round in circles
Do you know when  you're doin it
Do you talk to yourself
Whilst you eschewing it
Is there a way
To stop the step
Will charred flesh be helpful
Or could it be a salad
Nutrition is a bit ******* key
But is it really?
The ****** of refuelment
Is what we be after.

what is it makes a person
great in this sad world?
where there's such mediocrety
it is a precious pearl

is it that they have money?
that they have accrued
a trillion dollar bank account?
does this make a person good?

perhaps they have a famous face
or well regarded name
maybe they play basketball
and have a winning team

is it artistic talent?
was Vincent van Gogh lauded?
in his painful lifetime
was this man applauded?

perhaps they are as Edison
and have a brilliant mind
but Edison used Tessla
to him he was unkind

this is what I think
makes a man or woman great
that they give life their ALL
that they do not faint

if you sweep the street
and make it clean and bright
If you are an educator
and bring poor children light
if you are a poet
on a humble poetry site
it is forgiving others
not having to be right!
if you are a boxer
and don't give up the fight

this is what is greatness
it's not playing a part
it is truly living

with your entire HEART.

for a friend who
thinks he's a loser.

YOU'VE PUT MORE HEART
INTO YOUR LIFE THAN
ANYONE I KNOW!

to me you are the greatest
man on the planet
