Acceptance by friends is most kind
given they don’t know my mind
even as the questions reign
traditions felt in harsh complaint

ill intent is not the goal
as reactions come and go
when the source defies a life
expectations become a lie

those deviations from the norm
presented to a perplexed world
are only measured in this way
while self verity defines my day

the combination may instruct
by actions lived the deal is struck
acceptance offered in the storm
revelation as worlds are turned.

The poem “Acceptance” was inspired by friends and associates presenting acceptance of my alternative sides even as I sense that they struggle with frames of reference to truly understand.

Loneliness comes in many forms
that separation of the soul
from a world of emotion's swirl
and the touch that would console

each with a flavor sustaining life
an essence needed to obtain
something more than holding place
in the coldness of the joined race

ask the tears the message brought
by the moisture of sad resolve
this substitute in the mists
a reality that life can’t resist

so many forms conspire as one
leading to the empty void
separation among the ghosts
intangible to those who need them most.

The poem “In Many Forms” is a consideration of loneliness.

Roles are played to ease the pain
of actors and supporting cast
each with a role on the stage
wondering if it’s meant to last

just one scene and then the next
days extend beyond hindsight
wisdom lost where comfort dwells
decisions made to avoid a fight

the most close extend control
in the form of life deplored
seeking only to keep the hearts
enclosed in cages safe from harm

ascend to state the obvious
soliloquies cast to the crowd
this cast of thousands trapped within
those roles played to ease the pain.

The poem “Those Roles” was inspired by a Tumblr posting that included the lines, “She was asked why she wouldn’t let him in…  the people closest to you, they expect you to star in that role for the rest of your life. ”

They’ll tell you I’m insane
another loser to be swayed
by the wizards of the world
wishing dogma to be word

sorcerers of the first rank
seeking others to entrance
decided by folly’s path
turned from grace at the last

madness is the circumstance
allowance given to illusion’s cast
into the glamour this one steps
wishing sanity to surely last

still the voices will exclaim
lunacy may yet be gained
if the magus has their way
another loser to be swayed.

The poem “Another Loser” was inspired by the tag line of a Tumblr account that stated “they’ll tell you I’m insane.”

The holy angels take a side
when conflict coincides
with each faction in surety
that cherubs are their allies

the evil in demon’s charms
are granted to opposites
sulphur is the taint
surrounding the assailants

now turn the tables to verify
the mirror confirms roles
flipped to the opposites
nothing changed in reverse

sanity has left the room
heaven and hell no longer served
when all parties can’t realize
only they are on their side.

The poem “On Their Side” is about the amazing incongruity of two sides accusing each other of the same evils, even while they wear the same halos.

The clock counts the minutes passed
waiting until the one that's last
with the destination surely known
where's the harm to hurry on?

a fretful end is never twice
only once may lightning strike
as the way will surely lead
to very worse of destinies

this roll of dice from above
set by gods by turn of luck
they must know the turn of trick
that fateful path life will pick

jokers meet the snake eyed twins
now the song will play again
with omens sent as clear signs
the chime announces closing time.

The poem “Closing Time” is about the inevitability of arriving at a destination, and whether this surety should prompt sooner action.

Consider futures none entreat
while nature dies beneath our feet
a slow death that’s decades long
in a world that most belong

except the monsters who plan to die
before the forecasts are applied
to the world they deign to mind
as elders focus on dollar signs

holding money as the greater good
against the family’s heritage
the wasteland will be the birthright
bequeathed by death’s knowing smile

ask not for the bell now tolls
it’s for the young left behind
reaping dust from coffered lies
all that’s left is to surely die.

The poem “Reaping Dust” is about the decisions being made now about climate change.
