When locked within secret burning thoughts weighing heavy on your day
Often we find it hard to see a calming river in a mist of pain
Recklessly tasting coarse twists of self-pity
While dancing to bittersweet music with shadows
In our own heart’s rain

Thinking with your eyes closed of lines in sand you dare not cross
While wishing those leaves you gathered would disappear
Have you drawn like a moth to fear’s eternal flame
Because you will not open up your eyes so you can see
A calming river running near

Silently, those secret thoughts are shadow dancing on your faith
While laughing to themselves as your heart cries
Curve those lips of yours and create the biggest smile
Cross those lines of sand and swim endlessly
In the calming river, held inside
