Dec 2014
In silence they walked beneath the night sky.
It shone black and blue,
it glittering with stars.
Their feet carried them down the quiet suburban and up towards a hill with an open lot on the other side.
Their feet were bare and the lot was dusted with cold dirt,
But they didn't care.

They turned to face each other, and the silence was broken...
But not by any tangible sound.
Only the music they both shared with each other.

They grasped onto one another and began to sway.
Slow at first, then faster and in a more skillful way.
It was a dance.
The girl and the boy could only look at one another and the sky above,
as their feet shuffled and slid,
jumped and twirled,
in the cold dust at their feet.

They never wanted to stop. If they had to feel the cold dust of the past,
they would do it dancing
and looking at the sky
and each others eyes.
They wouldn't look at their feet,
but to the future.
