Rocks, Dirt, Flesh & Bone,
Under my feet,
I search for space,
For my grief to breath,

What has become of this Man?
When a woman’s light touch,
Can lift a heavy heart,

Rifle strapped on my back,
Ammunition carried in a sack,
My weapon is unloaded,

Blood & Guts,
Is the War over?
Or did I lose the first battle?

Can I really go home?
I’ve changed, become estranged,
Do you want me?

I think of you, as I wander through the fog, across the lazy jungle
Anticipating the burning pain to pierce my armor,
Letting me feel,

In a dream,
I held you in my arms,
Felt you dying,
Unrelenting sadness,
I’m powerless,
You turn to me, and whisper,
Your Journey is over; it ends here in my arms,
Your tears wash my face
It’s me, It’s you, It’s Us
I turn and watch the zipper slide over my eyes,
Into darkness.
