Today I memorized your face
But still can’t pinpoint your smile
All is in perfect symmetry
But your eyes change color
So I’ll protect you from cosmic rays
While you use infrared to see right through me
And in the audio afterglow
We’ll let the sounds and colors wash over us
I don’t want to be your passport to the afterlife
I don’t want to be the black hole in the center of your universe
I want each galactic moment to stretch on elastic
Until it’s time to say goodbye
Until it’s time to see a shooting star and wish for change
And we’ll have a casual funeral
The neighborhood kids will surround you
And perhaps provide you more comfort than I ever could
But until that time let’s savor this energy exchange
You can turn the clock of my third eye into a tree of life
And I can plant the sun and moon into your bloodshot eyes
You’ll protect me from cosmic rays
While I use infrared to see right through you
And in the audio afterglow
We’ll let the sounds and colors wash over us
