and they were the kind of people
who you just knew belonged to one another
in this type of way that was indescribable
they were the perfect partners in crime
and you could see it--
even through the bustle of the city traffic
and the distance on a map
you could see that what they had--
it was pure
in a way nothing ever was anymore
it was like a fairy tale
that gave you hope because it was so
innocent in this way nothing really was anymore
and it didn't end in a beautiful tragedy the way things do
it had no bittersweet ending
and the best thing of all is that it was so ordinary, so wholesome
that it made you believe that just maybe
this skinny love of theirs would survive
in a way that nothing really did anymore
