Gentle waters
lapped methodically
along the shore,
swirling wisps
hypnotized
as ancient drums
rippled my spine.

I heard the crickets
rub their sacred-legs
between the papyrus
& saw the crescent smile
in its dark glory,
protecting the land
of the pharoahs.
