The leaves are
looking
bored.
They look tired
of being
green.
The sounds that
inspire them
those young birds
who remind them
it is time to be green
again
have all faded away.

I have seen geese
in v formation
flying
Halloween candy
multiplying
on the shelves
of stores who
once never sold it
until mid September
not many minds
still remember
when August
was not about
summer being β€œover”
and not about colors
of late October.

Warm days are
trying
ever desperate
to hold on
to be present
as darker
evenings
invade the hours
setting the sun
earlier
moving each morning
closer
to colder moments coming
soon.
