You held me when I was born,
but let go after I grew.
still trying to remember,
cause you're the man I never knew.
The only memories I have,
are from the pictures I see.
the ones covered in  dust,
the few of you and me.
I can never remember,
the event of when it was took.
Each picture was a mystery,
as I flipped through our scrapbook.
It hurt me deep inside,
The little girl you left long ago.
The one you once held onto,
until she started to grow.
I know now fifteen years later,
what I didn't know then.
Every girl needs her father,
from beginning to end.

Always,
    Tameica Hammick.
