Red
The silence screamed all around
As she lay in her satin gown
Her cheeks so pale they looked like milk
Her body as frail as an exotic silk
And they knew she would not awaken
For there was nothing there
But the poison that she’d taken

With an empty heart he tried to remember
The gentle kiss of his late lover
But couldn’t hear over the sound of despair
So he raised up a dagger into the air
And he plunged it so deep as blood stained the floor
He couldn’t remember what he’d done it for
He fell to the ground where he lay curled
As his pumping blood drowned the whole world.
