May 2014
emotions are thick, messy things
tripping people like hidden traps
tangling like vines around throats
blooming bright colors as they strangle you
flashing in your eyes like snatches of memory.
rolling waves of the ocean during a storm
glimpses of swirling expressions and brilliant eyes
like the color of salvation.
you try to reach for them but you are weighed down
by the slick staining red of blood and regret.
there's pressure building in my chest
climbing higher and higher
i feel like i'm drowning in oil
