people like to throw stones into water
it feels good, i think
to pick up a solid piece of the earth
and hurl it at a liquid piece of the earth
people like to see the result of their action
instant
hear a plop
see water spray up and
suspend momentarily in the air
people like to know they are on firm ground
people like to know,
that at the very least,
they can throw stones.
