Heart strings knitted together
Like a lost and found sweater
Thrown away, never
To be seen
Again

When
Did we meet
Like a rhythmic beat
That will never
See defeat
A sheet
Of music,
A lyrical masterpiece

I was the fuel and your were the fire
I should have known that love can expire
It's not the way I'm wired
To stay bolted to the same spire
Unable to walk in the mire
That is
This connection

The selection
Of mismatched heartstrings
Sings funeral songs
How have they made it this long
Wasn't it a game all along?
