Raindrops gave me the sound of a standing ovation
to congratulate my sleeping. Slight sadness at the windows
pain, slow small ache in kind applause.
Promises don't even try to disguise themselves as secrets
here between all the edges and creased pages and
                                            frenzied spills across hardwood floors.
