Does a tree beg a bird to stay perched upon its branches afraid that it may fly away one day? Does it allow the bird do as birds do and love it as it makes nest for a day? Perched upon my branches, many have been lovers and friends alike their all akin to kin Some reside in my trunk, tucked closely to my core others on my longest branches, ready to explore. All of them free to leave, but few freely stay I give to them the light of my love, blessing them every way The branches that litter my roots are lessons long gone by clipped by birds whom I was afraid to let free remembrance to birds tied down will surely break free Let it be fear not of lost love but love kept in captivity
