***** Slumber

I've slumbered

through the innocence

of my youth

and the resulting indulgence

left me dry

 

Since then

I've drowned in non-sense

and bathed

in pool after pool

of white lie;

 

allowed your eyes

to send bone-chilling waves

down my spine,

with the reckless risk

they imply

 

and though unwanted

thoughts

deaden my gaze with doubt,

to the grasp of your

abuse

I'll comply
