(1)
Dark is the street
But the moon is bright
& the eye of the child on theΒ Β fire escape
Shows a spirit still free & wild
She sees the police & the death to come
She sees you & me & the fear we own
As we stagger from street light to light
Afraid of the moon & what is known

(2)
Dark is the street
But the moon is high
But the light of the moon
Has gone & died
All she sees is the vultures eye
& the hatred of the police man
& the hunger & the pain
& the death lurking here again

(3)
Dark is the street
But the blood flows bright
The wolves are howling
Fierce zombie tunes
Fires are burning
The child dies
Vultures & wolves
Fight for the meat
