I am just an observer
a shadow of mankind
I sit at your table
as you did share your wine

Yet I did stay an observer
even when they put you on that cross
I watched the splinters pierce your holy flesh
as they hammered nails through bone and skin

And I just stood there, and did nothing to help you
that dark day when I had to see you suffer
good god why did you let me
let me be just an observer
