remind me why
I'm still awake
why does
sleep elude me so?

I've searched corners
under-bellies
empty bottles
for answers

but answers still elude me so

i doubt myself
and where I stand
hardly a
respectable man

but genuine
in whatever it is
that keeps me awake
until six

nothing makes
sense

and with street lights
guiding my way
flickering
fading
fulminating

I stumble
trip
through dawn cascading

the walk down every
alleyway
heavy steps upon the street

questioning until collapse
the empty beer cans at my feet
