The drugs they give to **** the pain
run now docile, receptive to his brain
no lack of lustre does this hero have
cheating death for nearly three years

This is a man found dying for his flag
another new million in the end could come
mothers smiles broken daily to a sag
no let up, no end to their worries

Disorientated most are
when back to banner and stars
no help from their sisters and brothers
looking at you as if you were from Mars

Some now homeless and forgotten
some made to feel ashamed
what was it all for
what did they gain.
