V
The thirst for life
I shan't live vicariously until I drink too deep
Steeping my too-old mouth in the freshness that is new life
Life stolen from those too naive to notice
And too weak to resist
I am iron and I stand tall
Taking hold of intrigue birthed from the shadows
That engulf the bed I have made
Laced with the bodies of the ancestors of my land
Counted out precisely to divide infinitely
The length of my life
